Most of the Senators are rather apathetic to the former Macgruber-Cuborg-CM conflict, and the commander was only sending down the men because his grandfather was one of those killed in the Conflict.
but wouldn't your government want to see if 5000 men with vastly superior weapons and armor can capture a city and if that goes well you can use it as a staging point for further advances. we will not use any neutron/naplam bombs useless you kill every civilian. Your commander could redeem himself.
Doubt it. The moralite commander would be more likely to withdraw then lose another 5,000 men. That's half a legion he has to explain for, another 5000 would certainly end his career... And his life.
why don't you attack again, but this time land near a city so we can't heavily bomb you. of course 5000 men staying in a forest is easy to deal with. but if you take control of a city you could win.
