Because mud is funny. I think all semi-liquids and semi-solids are funny. Mud is the default semi-liquid for me because there is so much of it. Do you have any idea how hard it is to find a four foot deep pool of butterscotch pudding? Horribly so. Then after you throw your friend with the horrible personal hygiene habits into it, you certainly won't want to eat it. What do you do with it then? It'll rot unless you get rid of it. Almost as difficult as obtaining a vat of butterscotch pudding is disposing of it afterward. Mud on the other hand is a geographical feature. That takes care of a lot of logistical problems. *nod*
