I'm still pretty pissed on part of myself *for STATING I needed it for simple homework* and the mods *for CLOSING it*

Hey.... my friend (okay, he's 7 but he's still my friend) dropped his DS and the screen kinda broke off, it's hanging on one side by wires and the other side isn't attached at all. When we turn it on the screen lights up for a split second and then it shuts down.....do you know how to fix that? He's really upset. I loaned him my DS but it's pink and he's a boy so that's not an ideal situation for him (especially around his friends!) I told him I'd get hubby to look at his DS but.......we're at a loss.

depends on how... detailed you want to go (Pen and paper, minuatures, various classes, races etc.)

if you have a Hobby Store (for the RPG fan) you can look for "Tunnels and trolls" . you can probably find the first edition Dungeons and Dragon (it was re-released after 3e. Redesigned for 'ease of use')

or, if you're familiar with the rules, you can also tailor it to fit the setting. I once ran a world that was Magic light. so people had little magic resistance and 1st level spells were rare (people used cantrips and there was no magic items.)

You can also start with 0 level characters. one champaign I played with we were all kids. so no fighter/thief/cleric/wizard/etc... and our first adventure was to find a missing cow... things like that. DND can also be diceless. have the person describe what he/she will do and you rule on that. removes most of the character generating things since DC and other things are removed. even hit dice can be reduced to Hurt, hurt badly, feeling weak, etc...

I saw you in the DnD thread. Do you know a simple RPG that's DnD-like? Our neighbor kids would like to play DnD with us but it's too complicated for them to understand, they haven't ever been exposed to things like character classes and levels and such. I really want to play something with them, but I can't quite think of what.

enjoy the educational system while you can. the moment you get out, you'll be pounding your head trying to get back in!
