Utopia Lore

Inspired by my own suggestion to include lore and by others who have posted stories (nikotine)...

High atop the mountains of Avros in a far away island of Utopia an icy wind blew. The wind was no different than the usual...but the dark clouds propelled by its might was an indication that a storm was coming. Nitheria, commanding General of her prized Avian force of elite Drakes, held in a shiver. Storms like these were often a precursor to what most feared...war.

Urgently, she beat her enormous wings twice to lift her from the cliff she stood upon. Her experience let her know that this was no time for politics; she must fly directly to the Queen. Without any further thought, she soared to the Cyrindial - the Nest. It had been long since the last war. The trees and waters below were a majestic beauty. She knew all to well, however, that those trees would be burned. That the homes and nests would be destroyed. Many of her kind would die. As soon as the thought had crossed her mind, she banished it. Thinking of destruction would do nothing for victory. She had seen her mighty Queen's work before. Where Nitheria excelled in battle tactics, her Queen surpassed her in war strategy. But before she could develop such a plan, the other provinces in the Queendom must be informed.

But upon approaching her Nest, Cyrindial. Nitheria's heart sank. Her green eyes filled with fury and sorrow at what they saw. The city was in flames, razed to total destruction. On pikes, she saw the heads of the advisers, blood and ashes covered everything. But that wasn't what stunned her. Her Queen...her powerful Queen...wings pierced through with giant Orcish Battle Axes pinning her to the tallest spire of the castle. Hurriedly, Nitheria flew to her queen, flapping her wings as fast as she could make herself fly. But how could this happen? The other side of the island was open only to their allies...and so quickly!

She reached her.

"My Queen!" Nitheria nearly cried, lifting the Queen's drooped head. "Please...please wake up!"

"Ni..." The Queen's attempts at speaking brought blood filled coughs... "It was..." more sprays of blood before her head dropped, eyes closing, and life...fading.

Nitheria let out a shrieking cry that was not only grievance for her Queen, but also wrath for her enemies. She would find out who was responsible for this. She would make them pay!

Fanaticsm flooded her veins and a bloodlust that frenzied her mind. There was still remnants of battle in the nearby provinces and she would not let them escape! That's when she saw it. The first victim of her vengeful rage. An Orc General leading the left overs of his troops out of the Nest. Without a second though she flew as death from above. The hideous Ogre must have heard her coming...but it was too late. Just as his eyes met hers, Nitheria's powerful talons tore into his shoulders. His scream was not enough. She would hear pain.

Flying above the other Orc troops Nitheria let out a shriek that would never be forgotten...summoning all her strength into it - she ripped the Ogre in half with her talons. Forcing all of what had happened to her Kingdom out of her mind and into the joy at hearing this orc scream. Flying back down to the troops, she use his two halfs as weapons. Flaying him into the other orcs wildly and precisely. Knocking them into walls and off of heights they could never survive.

Finally, Nitheria sat there at the entrance to the castle. Surrounded by death. The red blood that covered her body and face a sharp contrast to her green, now solemn, eyes. Her body was exhausted...her mind a busy void. But her heart was a fire from the deepest hell.

Gorth felt a jolt of pain down his right leg as he tried to stand. That fall should've killed him...it certainly spared none of the others had fallen with him. That bird woman's power was immense. Not only that, but the top commander of the Ogres was dead. She had ripped him in half! Gorth wanted to fight...and others might consider him weak for fleeing...but he prized himself as one of the smarter Goblins. This would be something his King would want to know. What was he to do with only one functioning leg anyway? As quietly as he could, Gorth limped away to inform his Kingdom about what he had witnessed.
