Have ads recently started freezing up anyone else on mobile?

Starting last Thursday my phone started randomly freezing while playing utopia. My data usage also went up as full two minute video ads started showing up just above the kd page and below the kd banner.

I just bought the ad blocker and my performance went up 10x and I'm no longer getting any freezes. I'd never had issues with ads giving me a negative game experience as they didn't slow the game down, but that doesn't seem to be the case anymore. Was curious if I was alone in this?
