Im trying to figure out where all that came from honestly..
Players play for different reasons.
I freely admit I need strife to enjoy the combative side of the game. It may surprise some that I could happily go through the ages growing, studying and living in peace with my neighbors. If you understand the moral code I follow in game then it's no surprise at all.
The point is that in game my province follows 'a way of life'. Respect others as we respect ourselves. There is no meta in my make.
The notion that this is a war game is solely a decision made by the community. I don't like my peasants working like dogs for my army, but I want my army strong enough to defend it's people. My province is united under a code of chivalry. To give land to a larger province because it wants to exercise dominant power is reprehensible in my eyes. It's a sin against the people and our beliefs. We fight as one. We die as one. - This is a roleplaying aspect.
In real life I'm a cigar smoking, middle-aged loner lost in the glory of the 80s. I don't like being tied down at home so I have a tablet to play Utopia and shop guitar gear at my whim. The limits of my tablet wouldn't allow me to be involved with serious kingdoms as a member. This is ergo to my love of playing the game raw and always having a bigger nemesis to test my skills.
Oh, I could skip the cigars and get setup to roll top kingdom style. I've played meta and understand what needs to be done. I'm active enough to run attacks every 3 ticks and I've got nothing standing in my way. Since age 63 I've not lost acres in war. I came close in two wars this age. For those who say acres don't matter, ask the tops and remember who you asked for aid and who provided it. For those who understand, I humbly render my skills to build a stronger kingdom.
Sitting in safe-mode all age must make record setting pretty strenuous.
Vlahul your accusations towards Munk, or CR because he plays there, are simply absurd. I'm playing in CR this age and prior have had little to no contact with members of this kingdom and I most likely won't keep playing in the top. Therefore I have no reason to lie. I have seen no indications that Munk misused his power as bot creator, or any rumours of backstage shenanigans. Our leaders are commendable people. We have been getting our own damn intel like any other kd.
You don't have to go to such lengths to rile them up. I'm looking forward to see them kick your ass next age ;)
Godly nice science but its defo easier to get nowadays than say 15 ages ago.. half the playerbase at the least means far less folks hitting you. Easier pump times.. Records set the last 10 ages mean little to me tbh, since it is far easier with the reduced competition.
Also its doable to beat that if another sage gets landdropped to 300 acres I bet :D
What he is talking is most likly that /admin or something link where you got a login box username/password, i belive blake used if for doing his cleaning, but in my intire UT i never heard of anyone breaking that login (was the code before omac) lotsa rumors but it was all bull****, and i know of a groupe of 10 people running campus computers to Brute Force it.
Anyways as i never was logged into it nor anyone else i ever meet i would not know what was behind the secret door.
probably you're right, but we will never know the truth.
Yes, it was from Blake, but I heard rumors about Blake having some connection with some uto players.
Bishop knows better what he says about that link. I guess :). If he says it did not pump anything, I can believe that. Again - we will never know. And i do not care in fact. I am glad to see UTO at a much higher level after both Mehul and Omac left. Especially Mehul, who had treason over many of his colleagues and business partner (as I've heard, don't care) being a greedy *****.
What matters is today's Utopia, which deserves to grow and have more users. For me, at least, it is a far better experience, but I'm that type of player Mehul disliked - "I play for the win" and I had to log and trade to be able to compete with other similar players.
Now it is not the case anymore, and that's what matters. Nobody needs cheating to win nowadays; it is not necessary for xloging, trading or other ****s. It is what it had to be always for Utopia.
That "environment" bull**** Mehul talked about, with new players enjoying randomization in some ghetto.... nobody enjoys that. It is fun, in the beginning, meet new people, make new friends, but you cannot spend so much time and resources...for nothing.
That's the main reason I; ve returned and planned to help anyway I can this community to grow.

I am a film maker in real life, currently working for a medieval drama Web Series for youtube (Mongol Invasion in 1241). I hope to launch it in spring 2016, still have to do some more shootings to complete it.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2XLbIVd0yT8 (unreleased teaser).
I plan to do a 10 minutes short episodes series inspired by Utopia, as a free youtube series with a similar approach as LOTR, but strictly based on Utopia. Hope I can finish that as I wish, it might be a Youtube success :)
This is by far the most innovative social media based marketing strategy i've ever seen.
It has also benefits for me and could boost awarness for Utopia hugely. As a film maker (33 years old, just started my career some 5-6 years ago) I would boost my portfolio (aiming for top quality I can deliver), as well as the team I work with. Trust me, many professionals - actors, light, camera, anything you want ... involves pro bono or under contract for "future work".
For my medieval drama, I've started a crowdfund campaign which had a moderate success (so I made it with my own money after all). My mistake was that I've targeted 23 million Romanians and not a "world-wide" subject. So the real crowdfund supporters (UK, Germany, USA, Scandinavia, etc) did not give a **** about the Mongol Invasion in 1241 :).
But this Utopia-inspired free Web Series, can pull million of views over youtube - that will generate an income to self-produce further episodes.
The www.kickstarter.com does really works for such things, but it needs a 15-20% preliminary boost from friends and family for the project to "kick off".
Bravo. That's amazing, vlahul82.
Now I've gotta get a better job.
^ one of the guys on my list.
