oh yes, and to the reason I'm typing this...

I am REALLY sick in a place called yanshuo with something akin to E.Coli. Throwing up and diarrhea simultaneously can be tricky. I'm laying low for a day or two more until it clears up. Might have a chance to write.

@Ren - sounds... lovely =P although not quite India, I've heard plenty of stories from my friends who've traveled to SE Asia and almost all of them have a getting sick story from the food, so at least you're getting yours out of the way early ^_^

@Dar - forgot to say before but, as Jer said, it's a tough deal. I'm doing the unemployed thing right not (I prefer to think I'm rocking it haha) but it can be a lonesome and stressful affair. I've never questioned my future so much as I have in the past 2 months since I moved back in with my parents. I don't really think what I'm going through is similar to your situation, but my advice would be to not forget about us and even use URP as an escape. Sometimes you just start to dwell on the what ifs too much and it just adds to the stress and worry, and I found coming here to write, thinking about my next post helped keep me sane =P

=P I'm scared! NaNoWriMo starts in 22hrs for me. I got a plot idea lined up it's a seafaring one, and I know a lot about ships having worked on a more modern day one as an apprentice chef for a month, but it didn't work out unfortunately I found out I suffer from seasickness. (Running my sentences again.) Yeah you got any ideas lined up... oh I did a calculation and we have to write just under 1700 words a day to keep up. =^-^=. Is this your first time too Geco and what's your username so I can find you there? Mines the same as the one over there *points up at username*. ICANTSLEEP!!!!!!!! itching to be writing. I so want to post here. Lol just so I can calm my nerves a little Aaaaaaaaaaaaarrrgggggghhhh. Maybe I should start now early, god knows I need all the time I can get for NaNoWriMo

Just finished catching up on Skysail its sped up a bit. Also his name is Wintrow, not Wintrop =^_^=. Um there was something else I was going to say...

I'm scared as well. I haven't done a huge amount of planning, mostly because I think I try to over plan before I write, so I'm just going to try to write this time. It is my first time, so not really sure what to expect. And ya, I realized how many words it turned out to be everyday and suddenly my throat got a little tight because that length was like a standard essay in university. But here's what I realized. My last post in Skysail is about 1,000 words, and that took maybe a little over an hour to write, so when you aren't worried about writing perfectly, you can write a lot. Remember, the name of the game is quantity, not quality. Quality comes after editing in Dec ^_^

My name there is Vagrant Scribe (maybe with a _ in between, can't remember right now). And sorry about the wrong name, just sounded right and I didn't bother double checking =p

Standard essay in uni? Man that aint nothing I'm use to writing short stories and stuff for english...not recently but yeah... can you believe I told my boss bout NaNoWriMo and he ACTUALLY offered my a couple nights off for it!! So Cool lol. I might take 'em if I'm not faring too well. But you being unemployed at the moment should be able to streak ahead of me.

I've realized that motivating yourself can be one of the hardest things to do, even when it's doing something you love =P It seems like a contradiction, but things don't always go as you think they will

Edit: also you're doing your book on the Requiem Dawn? Well that's what you called it anyway. Me, I still don't have a name for mine but its set on a land of coastal cities and islands and you guessed it the sea its self... I might post a little bit of it here. Can I trust you guys? Lol I know I can. I may or mayn't do it later.

Hmmm funny I seem to remember you telling me some thing different once, meaning a particular MSN conversation.
I was actually reading it again for the first time I think and I actually laughed at my own hopelessness. I have hit a block at just under 5000 words, I need 200 odd more words to reach day three's goal of 5001 words and its only the second so I'm not too worried and I realise I have been overactive in this thread lately.

Its just every RP I enter on the other site seems to die so quickly as it 2/3 weeks if that, though I managed to keep my own thread open for nearly four now so I'm not doing so badly at being a GM I think. Anyway I'm all written out for now, I think my fingers are lead, they certainly feel like it. I bought a new laptop especially for nano yesterday its got windows 7 and its Awe....Some! Good for anything I need it for anyway, games and RPing, and writing too.

What I wrote here, the part you quoted, was in reference to NaNo. NaNo is an exercise in discipline and endurance. Here, we ask for quality over just writing words. It's an important distinction to remember =P

I don't know how you've been writing so much already. Today is Nov 1 for me, and I'm just starting. Anyways, if you want, clean up your first 1000 words that you've written if you want and post them here, and if you've improved then we can welcome you back to Skysail.

Oh but that means I have to count them! Manually I think, still working out the kinks with the new word, there maybe a way and all grammar should be correct already due to spell checking when I couldn't write any more. I will double check it and all that jazz.

I am sorry to all for my absence. I went on vacation to visit my grandparents. Sadly my grandfather passed away shortly after we arrived. Between the services and consoling my family I have not been in the right mindset to post really anything. I will be home friday and I should back on the boards this weekend. Unfortunately a similar thing happened in our family and this happening between working late (had 16 hours of work day the other day, yay) all week it's been impossible for me to get something up.

Drice - sorry to hear that, chap. Tough luck, that. My grandfather passed a while back, and he was truly my best friend. He and I shared some special times; as I'm sure you've spent some special ones with your own. Don't worry 'bout us. We'll be fine. Spend time on who counts in your life right now. I wouldn't be surprised in the least if we take a very back seat. :)

Drice, sorry, again, to hear it. wish the best for ya, but things can only go so well, yeah? Try not to let it get you too down. The most I regret is misunderstanding my grandrather's death for something to mourn a lot over. In his state of living (perhaps not for your own) it was a blessing for him to pass as he did. In the end it was rather selfish of me to cry a lot over. I should have been happy for him, not suffering anymore as he had.

Hey all, sorry to hear about that Drice, as everyone has said, worry about yourself right now, but of course we're here to help if even just to be an escape.

I want to propose a temp break in Skysail - it's been 1 full week without a post now and I'd like to make it another week. This means MY next post will come Thu/Fri next week (the 12/13). I hope I'm not disappoint anyone, but I just feel like a continued break could be good to not worry about the thread for a bit. With NaNo going on I want to keep concentrating on that for the next week, so I'd definitely appreciate the time, and hopefully next week everyone is back, recharged, and ready to continue.

I've been working a lot this week, and will probably continue to do so, (hopefully I get to sleep some during the weekend) but the major issues we are having are still there, so next week will be exhausting as well...

I like the idea too. I've been having a few head-spinning days dealing with a month old baby and now the loss of my job. Another week off to get RL settled would hopefully help getting settled...

I... want to post, but have left my character in the unfortunate position of requiring a response before continuing. The briefest of posts from Geco would free me up to at least entertain character history (Archamae) and intertwine it within the context of the present, without furthering plot elements or requiring interaction with playing characters.

Haha, I know you're waiting on me Phoenix, and I apologize, I already know what I need to say to you, and I think I can manage that at the very least ^_^ - look for it later tonight or tomorrow.

Haha, the point is to give you time to enjoy your travels until you're more settled in Aussieland. Well, of course that's not the point, everyone just got quite busy and RL crept up.

Glad you liked the post, just wanted to say to everyone, talking with Phoenix now and there are probably edits going to be made. I hadn't run by what I was going to say with him, and I knew he had plans for unveiling Arch's backstory to mesh with the present, so some things may change. ^_^

In other news, my parents come home from San Diego today, it was so nice not having them here, the house felt peaceful =P

Wow - I applaud the mods. One borderline hateful post from some random, a casual reporting, and 5 min later it's removed. It leaves me satisfied with Jolt.

This place is SCARY, people are satisfied with jolt and use the REPORT option, I think I'm in extraordinarily strange territory. The mods keep your scarring to a minimum in here, I could get hurt.

that's exactly the behavior that we abhor from the rest of the forums, before or after the merge to jolt. no etiquette or social ability. Personally, that's the general reason I abhor living in this time period. General lack of decency.

That's all I'll say on the matter.

I think the URP boards are an interesting anomaly. We are usually left to our own devices; storytelling, writing and existing in relative peace. There has always been the utmost minimum of controversy and petty disputes. Occasionally we'd have a spammer who would drown the 100 thread limit on the old Utopia boards - two days later a mod would come mop it up. These days we seem to attract the ignorant or atypical troll. Unfortunately I don't think these boards gather enough attention to perpetuate such a problem. Like Rensha says, unlike typical internet forums, we have a bit of decency.

Hey everybody, sorry about the absence, but things have been pretty crazy lately, topped off by getting a new job. This weekend was bad, made so many plans that in between the squash, dim sum, Call of Duty Modern War 2, hockey, UFC, poker, crib, Canadian Football game... you get the picture, I just had no time for the boards.

Also, am very happy to announce my new position. I met up with the Publisher of Sci-Fi and Fantasy who happens to be the only publisher in the genre in Canada and somehow the stars aligned and I now find myself on the first day of the job. I'm going to be doing more marketing and business development eventually, but for the moment I'm getting to read manuscripts and assess them ^_^ I think it's pretty fun. Really happy and is like a dream come true to be able to work in field I love.
