Had the same idea. I do think that in the preliminary changes a lot was taken up from what was said in the suggestions section over the age. But the comments here.. nothing. I wanted to run 4 halfer/rogues as A/T, well goodbye to that idea now ^^

Slapping a -2 on Halfling elite offensive value seems harsh without giving them back the +1 off specs, having to rely on 4/4 for offense is just silly, the weakest army composition in the game probably, at least Faery has Fanaticism to make up for the lack of offensive strength in their elites and quick feet to speed them up. Only things halflings get is aggression? Yeah i suppose that would satisfy the voices of all those who kept screaming for the option to run all soldier armies ;)

I will play faery or halfer but that's not the point. The point is elf is now in the t/m role like avian in the attacking - it sucks. Halfer got huge buffs(the biggest being the elite and for real - good job), faery got the CS and what did the elves got - nothing. That was explained, good suggestions were made and still nothing... For future just try to make things more balanced and maybe rework that avian... we have 8 races but 3 are "specified" in being t/m... maybe change that :).

No, it is the point. If another race is "better" for what you want then run it. Elf was never designed to hit the full t/m niche - they have a significantly cheaper and more resilient army and better space efficiency than faery.

4/1 solds are very nw efficient and pretty fun to use. A 4/5 army is fine though, they aren't meant to be a troop powerhouse as their tpa mods should allow them to strip opponents armies.

Very fun indeed, until 2 hours into war when someone night strikes every single one of your soldiers with little to no effort, or catches your soldier army at home for more than 1 second and nightmares them into reconsidering the calm and quiet life as a peasant. This sort of boxes Halfling in as a strict t/m, you're not really giving them the hybrid option, because soldier armies just wont survive longer than the first spy on throne landing on said halfling. I personally don't really mind since i prefer to never run or utilize hybrids, but i can see how others could see this is a massive let down.

Aggression

This spell refocuses your soldiers from versatile fighting units into an offensive machine. Giving them a lust for attacking, Soldiers will gain 1 offensive point in all combat for the duration of the spell. During this period, though, they will lose 1 defensive point as well.

Is Known: Age 14 ... now

Available to: Halflings, Faeries
Effect: Turns all your soldiers into 2/0 (Halfling: 3/1) troops before modifiers.

If someone is NSing into +40% tpa and double TDs easily you should reassess your choice to run halfer. I'm not saying the army should be built off soldiers but it does open up options into war when funds are limited.

I personally don't think the final changes are terrible as some are suggesting...

Avian got the BR buff like almost everyone was screaming for.
Worries about halfling being a bit too strong got taken care of pretty quickly. I think many people wanted to run halfling...they were a bit overpowered in the prelims. 3/5 may be a bit overkill...but maybe not.
War Hero got another bonus -- making Elf/WH a pretty solid choice.

Not much is different from the prelim changes except for the main points that were brought to the attention: Avian, War Hero, Wages, and Halflings.
In the short time from then to now - those got changed in the direction people wanted them to. Sure, they weren't the exact changes people wanted, but they were changes in the right direction. Why be mad at that?

Halfling +1 offspec is not a bonus, it's a penalty is disguise (at least the way you're thinking about it - it's only good if you train the offos during war and know you're not getting chained, or you are staying the hell away from war and want to pump the orky way.

The new Halfling is fine. They're a close analogue of age 56 Halfling/Rogue, except they are not tied to Rogue personality to get the super-useful double dens effect. Can see Halfers other than Rogue being very viable, but Rogue is naturally the strongest affinity.

Fine, whats your counter to the 2-3 nightmares required to mess your evil soldier army plans up ;). As is now, halflings will be locked to a pure T/M role, anyone attempting to run them as hybrids will probably end up with a jack of no trades really. You'll be able to steal/op other attackers but you can't break anyone that doesn't suicide, and if you try to maintain enough offense to do so, you will sacrifice either defensive capabilities or thieving capabilities. I suppose it is fairly pointless to discuss this though since the changes are final, i'll bet you 10 credits this will be changed for next age.
