Look, at the end of the day, you're speaking from the experience of a core player, and I'm speaking from the experience of a leader (and not one like flogger that struggles to grow/login/play their prov). There are plenty of war kd players who are absolutely high quality and would be great core players, given instruction and teaching on how to prep, how to whore, etc. However, as a leader, I would rather have a core where I don't have to worry about more than a small subset of players where I've explicitly decided to accept the risk of needing to micromanage them. We take in war kd players all the time when we need fresh blood -- they're some of the most active players, which is great. But they're not the kind of player you'd trust in their first age with a meaningful role.

Some kds (like pandas) like to have their races split and specific players for every kind of core role. CR generally prefers to have as close to uniform-race cores (or duo-form with a hybrid + a hitter) as possible. Particularly when running a uniform core, you want to be able to double the player that is performing the best, without wondering whether that player will be a competent calf now that you've put them up -- because that's what gets you the best outcomes. If Meep is your largest core prov, you want to be able to turn them into a calf (less pool used than doing someone smaller) without wondering if Meep will be able to pump effectively. The more you dillute the talent pool of your kd with unknown entities, the more risk you take if you do that.

For a leader in most kds, you don't want to take on unnecessary risk, and ultimately that's what bringing in random war kd players means unless you've already established a relationship (or they have relationships with folks already in kd) and you're confident of their ability to get on level.

e: fair point PC. I do feel like it's a little more interchangeable in war tier, but you're right that the number of 'just follow orders' core is still not like 20 players.

and i feel it is just better to put the best 2-3 guys on all key spots and rotate them as other key spot opens, or go the other way and just put 2-3 guys on every province to comepensate for any lack of skill.

Well the narcissistic prick that I am I consider myself better than most any player in any KD simply because I have a working brain, too much time on my hands and can follow a posted build without a diploma in nuclear physics. I don't think I'm getting put in that role anytime soon though, it's mostly because of my attitude I think, or people simply don't trust a new player, but if they look at the numbers those don't lie, often this is not as important to a leader as say a laid-back attitude.

Veteran needs to be told what to do, noob needs to be told how to do it. Massive difference.
Having significant number of noobish players is a huge strain on leadership, and usually still results in screwups.

That said there are people who are good at math, active, motivated and with minimal microing will outperform seasoned veterans based on their activity.
I would say both Zauper and Matija are right to a certain degree.

If you join sparta and be committed im willing to create all the necessary conditions for you to shine Matija (and carry real power and responsibility)

It's not just about pump/prep however. Veterans are invaluable because of their experience in situations that 'super hyper active' players might not have seen yet.

Knowing what to do or how to react to counter play is an incredible asset than someone who just follows the orders but needs someone to be there to tell them

That being said, vets probably have starved more ticks or pk'd more times than the newbies too QQ

Plz, not all of us are like you!

Well one of my feats is staying marquis when other "veteran pros" faltered to the recent gangbang. I built a 250dpa Avian, nobody told me to do this and if I didn't foolishly retal into an Undead and unluckily contracted the plague I'd be better off still, but if the LS told everyone to mass train def specs on time others would stay on higher honor as well. They were simply following orders, so whose fault is it that they were dying? These veterans are losing their edge because they just want to chill and do what they always do. New situations they do not adapt to. It takes them longer to appreciate new mechanics. Experience is nice but it's worthless if you refuse to learn the most out of it.

Exactly. I more or less already said it before, the difference between knowledge and deep craft --> having studied management vs being a manager for over 20 years.

The biggest challenge isn't per se teaching people, but making sure they stay committed and motivated long enough for it to settle in and develop deep craft.

If you let us farm that much from of Spartans, we'll end the war with 8 prov's at 10k acres. I don't think that counts as "out of the age" at all!
