I agree, but I was overlooking AW at first.

meh, ill summarize. if you want the most badass faery prov every, go sage.
if ur kd is going to be warring a lot and you want to maximize ur output, go rogue. hell +50% magic and +50% thievery is a JOKE.
you can break any attacker or hybrid AT WILL all age. might as well hit the +1 stealth for rogue.
if people want to argue otherwise thats fine, im not gonna waste time trying to convince people that faery/rogue is better than faery/sage, ill just run all faery/rogues in my kd next age and prove it.
not to mention early age u might even be able to break other faery/sage if ur rogue. and bomb their wizards down with AW. pce out...
Rogue, no question. More stealth is more win. A t/m should have no problem finding the necessary tpa and wpa to be effective, and sage won't make your ops any more damaging, so the only edge a sage has is a slightly stronger economy and defense. The rogue-only ops are mostly reserved for maximizing honorwhoring for your kingdom, and of course for yourself, but they only work in the rogue's favor.
Merchant for UB
Are the T/Ms running as a "mini-bank"? If you are expected to take an oversized role in funding dragons and aiding gc, sage looks a lot stronger. Lower rTPA/rWPA, higher pop, and better income sci all make you an econ powerhouse.
If you have a ligit bank, or can count on the attackers to do dragon funding/killing, rogue has higher max damage potential, which is tough to argue with. I'd recommend the kingdom plan on letting the T/Ms be the econ though, since the difference between econ and power for an attacker seems greater than for a T/M.
Which makes another good argument for Sage, hence my indecision... I'm actually leaning more Sage now. Normally, we do expect all to contribute to dragon funding, but attackers tend to have their gc stolen by the enemy if they're not online in time to fund first, so more of the burden does fall on the T/Ms making their economy of more importance.
I've had 3 faeries in my kingdom all age, with 20 provinces total. We keep them at about 600 acres above the average, and we're solely responsible for dragon killing. We also do about 80% of the funding. We've got dragon kill time of 5-6 hours on average, so it's pretty efficient. Even after the dragon killing, we're still unbreakable, especially next age, that will be easily achievable.
Also, personalities of faeries in my KD are Rogue/Rogue/Merchant, this age. Merchant = HUGE econ. Contributes about 40-50% of the dragon funding each time. Rogues = propaganda -> 400-500 specialists converted is a lot of damage to the dragon.
Incase you guys didnt understand my point, going rogue will yield worse numbers and make it harder to stay unbreakable and big in your kd, whereas this will be easier as sage. If your kd only has 1-2 faeries, your looking at being disabled pre war, whereas 5 or more fae/rogues will be able to spread around the damage received. If youre sage, you really have no excuse to stay big and unbreakable, which is really important, unless youre warring ghettos. EDIT: I wanted to add also, i dont like merchant with faery unless youre playing in a decentish kd only. Any good kd will make it their priority to take you down before going into war. Having an UB fae/merch is just too huge of an advantage imo.
sage is better than rogue, hands down. i have over 200% in thievery and my thief is considerably higher than nearly all rogues... im running 31 tpa comfortably with my other stats considerably higher than most as well. sage is by far better than rogue. although all kds should have one rogue for aw.
marve - how big are you ? How big is your KD ? How many wars did you have ?
im 1300 acres, rest to suit, and we had four wars including a three week war. If you are making an argument that my size matters whether to go rogue or sage, i fear you are mistaken. No matter the size, a decent sage will out pump a rogue. I feel that too many people dont know how to properly allocate buildings and dont put much stock in pumps...
i disagree, i can and do pump and grow at the same time. and im in no way claiming that im some god of this game... but if you have decent strats and think ahead, you can pump without question at any point.
marve.. we obviously do not mean the same thing when we say "growing".
but i am happy that you are happy with your building allocation and advanced strats etc. :)
marve, this is exactly why I'm asking.
After 3 months your province is still at 1300 acres. For quite a few out there, that might be the norm, or even bigger than many. But for others, it's still a small size. (For me, your current size was the same I touched after 3 weeks). The important issue here, is perhaps to recognize that it took you quite some time to get to 200% science. For most of the age, this number is irrelevant - unless you plan to war only the last week of the age.
Also, while your Sage might statistically be stronger than the Rogue after certain amount of time, you must not forget that a Faery/rogue had +2 stealth this age. (Only 1 next age though - though sage bonuses gets dropped as well) Which means that your Sage might be the stronger thief, but that the Rogue will do more damage. So, as long as you have a high enough TPA, you'll get through the defenses anyway, and then the extra ops come into reckoning.
I would also be much interested to see your building setup if you you are planning to grow, train elites + thieves, maintain wpa and pump sciences.
