I assume there is quite a bit more to the story and have no idea what lead up to those events. These things could all be unrelated to his woes as well.

from those 3 facts, it seems like palem thought he can get rid of a single prov but it ended up that prov outnumbering him? sounds embarrassing, but i believe there must be more to the story as well..Quote:

At "thick skin"; it helps to have a thick skin, but we should hold lowlife trolls up to the magnifying glass. These people are small shriveled parasites. We should act as smiling giants and spray them with bleach...and squash them. Pick them up with a paper towel and flush them every time they appear. Aqualung, my friend....
a little birdy told me there was some misinformation flying around here, so I thought I'd clear things up.
What happened with POINT (the solo prov):
-I had intended to just have a chill age with a couple friends. We were seeing who could finish the largest. POINT was larger and continuously hitting our top.
-I contacted him about a CF. He accepted, but broke the CF about 3-4 days later iirc.
-He continued hitting our top for acres which essentially put a cap on how large we could reasonably grow, so we decided we needed to do something about it. So we made preparations and began to bounce him down to remove him from his position.
-I figured he would call in some friends, so it was no surprise to me when a few kingdoms started hitting in (although I must say I was a little disappointed to see Emeriti in our news)
-He made no attempts to contact me about arranging a CF.
-We were about 2 hours away from breaking him before he got into Vacation Mode (I assume illegally).
So that's what happened with that.
The original purpose of this post was to act as a receptacle to collect the tears of those who I had planned on terrorizing for the remainder of the age for generally acting above and beyond the amount of lame that I've grown to expect from a typical kingdom in utopia. Massacring TM's while they're hostile, razing into wars, that kind of thing. The plan was to do that for the rest of the age, then leave, but after reflection I decided there was no point in griefing, and that if I didn't want to be here, then I should just leave. So I used the thread I had already posted to do that.Quote:

General Thoughts: I almost quit a while back as a new player. So 11 years of this game, you had some tenacity, I'll say. It was people like Piggy, Osaze, Palem, and many others that I won't even continue to list because that list will be enormous... that helped me stay in the game.
I KNOW there is a community of decent people that play Utopia. Unfortunately, cruelty is always more severe than respect. It's always more violent, vile, villainous.
The problem is, the Utopian Community won't change unless either the powers that be (moderators/those in charge) cleanse the forums of the pungent odors of filth, or they clean themselves. We all know the latter won't happen, filth doesn't even know they are filthy. And the powers that be have all either retired, given up, or somehow things that a little bit more aggressive cleansing of said filth is unreasonable. Too hard to draw that line, I guess.
EDIT: Anyway, the point of this was more to say sorry to see you go Palem. Maybe one day this community will be more tolerable and maybe we can all get together again. :)
I did. I played with protector - this age actually. I played a war with him and his Kingdom. got my province 3K acres w/o exploring and made count. The life in a KD like his is easy. VERY easy. You never have to worry about anything. People don't retal even though they should. I made many attacks against provinces that were unoccupied with tons of offense and almost never once got retal'd.Quote:

Protector's KD was cool, bunch of cool guys just hanging out and taking a break from real life. Wasn't really my type of KD, but I have nothing against them. You play where you want to play, I enjoy the ghetto. I don't mind the constant attacks and I highly doubt this is what Palem was annoyed with.
EDIT: Didn't see that first part. 1) It's a semi-joke, duh 2) Being removed from the planet and dying are totally different things! 3) It's an extreme exaggeration of the much smaller but real wish that he be removed from the Utopian Community

As for playing less than an age, and taking it, etc...I think you've got me confused with someone else. I don't "take it" - I hit back, so long as I have the resources/capabilities to do so. And it's not "smaller kingdoms" - it's "ghetto" there's pretty significant difference. Ghetto entails inactivity and people who don't build properly and aren't able to retal. It just seems to be a blanket response from people from top kds "oh well you just take it so deal with it" -- but that's not at all what's going on. 1) I'm not even talking about top kds hitting into us - those I retal the most when I can. I'm talking about the 90% of the other kds out there that are randomly hitting. They hit into ghettos because it's easy to pick us out. When 90% of Utopia is hitting you, you have to play differently. And I think that's the disconnect. Whereas, I played for 2-3 weeks in a top KD and made VERY VERY stupid hits that should have been retal'd, but none of them were retal'd just because of KD status = top KD. THAT aspect, only that one, is what I'm referring to as "easy" -- obviously I know that is not at all the only aspect in existence. The growing, the strategy of how to approach it, picking races/personalities, who to war and when to do it, sizing for wars, notices, diplomacy, etc...there's a lot - and probably much more - to the top KDs that are IMO quite difficult to perform perfectly. But in regards to the tranquility of OOW random hitting - it's a breeze.
Anyway, the real intent of me posting anything at all in here was to support Palem. My emotions carried me away into something totally different. If you read this, Palem, know that I'm sad to see you go - and that if/when you come back, let me know and I'll be there. :)
