I know that I am! I finally get to write something in the thread!! *does dance* Yay for LaRire and Guiliani!
This is an interesting change... I actually like the yellow, good contrast, and so glad we're back to the black, but, and forgive my french, who the f*@$ are these people looking at me and what the f@#$ for?
I think I liked the other format better... actually...
< Agrees with the previous post. This is brutal.
The dude with bling and tatoos scares me... but I think that's part of a Texas Longhorns logo on his shirt O_o
You think the theme is how they view our community? I mean, the background is like a dungeon-type thing and the characaters on the left are sorta fantasyish.
I hate to break it to you shari, but that's a mage's pointed hat that is sort of worn out. Which makes me think... halfling standing in front of a tattooed out of place ghetto dude trying to be a rapper in india (henna?), or... mage who is giving a magic knob polish? (excuse my crassness... ^_^)
FIZZY! I miss ya bro! you going to pick up a character somewhere? Maybe... didn't you have one in Skiesail anyway?
Had a gnome character way back in the day. Think it was the first edition of Skysail. Doubt I'd get around to writing something. o.O Just getting back into reading stuff here and there. Bourne Trilogy is great. If you don't count the third book. :P
Pretty sure I said this the last time I was around, at best, I'd post in that random post topic. x.x And I see where that got me. Would be nice to shake the cobwebs a bit though. This fancy new b/g must be inspiring me.
This background is ridiculous.
I'm not quite seeing the Longhorn logo you mention, Shari..
There are five books in that series, Fizban. Identity, Supremacy, and Ultimatum were written by Robert Ludlum and he agreed to sell the licence for cinema adaptation. The last two, Legacy and Betrayal were written by Eric Van Lustbader. I assume he either turned down the movie contract, or the studio/Matt Damon didn't want to invest any more time or money into the franchise. This was all before publishers started claiming more rights to novels, and authors weren't in it for the money *cough*StephanieMeyer*cough* *loudercough*JKRowlings*hackingcough*
Sorry, I think my contempt is showing....
I saw those out there, but I'm on the fence about reading them. Ultimatum completely threw me with how bad it was. Just everybody becoming idiots after the time skip between Supremacy-Ultimatum and I don't have that much faith in a new writer taking up the reigns. Then there's the fact that Ultimatum made it seem like Bourne was ready for the retirement home.
Honestly. I really didn't think their needed to be so much referencing to the fact that he was old. I mean, really? Not only do we get Bourne's inner dialogue about how he's getting old whenever he exerts himself scattered throughout the book, but an even older GRU/SVR Russian guy comments on it. Felt like it was just getting done so the book would be longer.
Bad as the third was though, I still think the Trilogy is gold. Might read the other books and take them with a grain of salt. :P The ole Star Wars Ep I-III treatment. lol.
To bad about the movies. Thought they were pretty good. :( Until I read the books and realized that they cut out Echo/Vietnam/The Jackal/Medusa. lol. Echo would've been the baddest French dude on film since JCVD in Lionheart.
haven't gotten around to reading them yet. But I also enjoyed the movies.
No one commented on my interpretation of the supposed 'longhorn' *wink wink* logo because they think i'm right or too rude? :)
I am so sorry about not posting. Its Mardi Gras down here and my hours not spent at work or intoxicated at the parades have been spent sleeping. I promise that I will have something up tonight but it wont be until late my time (2 more parades to go Lol)
@rensha The alternative is the fact that a tiny, Vivi-like mage's face is planted somewhere in the belt buckle region of a tattooed gangster. And I refuse to believe that Vivi would be anybody's b**ch. On a similar note, I'm more focused on trying to figure out what that is below the girl on the left. Is it that dude's arm? Looks like he has a washer through his bicep. I think we all just need to see the entire image...
lol. Well THAT is a sack of goodies, Shari. That I can attest to :)
On seeing the whole image... I'd rather just see the whole image deleted. lol
If you say so, Ren. I'll have to take your word for it. It seems, however, the background is on all forums hosted by this site, as well as the color scheme. The whole black, yellow-orange, and grey looks good enough, but the BG really throws it off. They could just put a big watermarked starburst (like the one in their logo) in the background and it woul look just fine.
Well, at this comp I'm actually seeing a bit more of the BG than I did before.
The longhorn is actually the torn hat of a scarecrow thinggy with a pitchfork. And to their right stands an elf thinggy with long blond hair and some slinky outfit... :)
Won't be able to post tonight but I'll try to get something up soon. Suggestions of how to better integrate Jade into the story is more than welcome since I'm having some trouble with this.
BEL!!! I was just thinking of you! :) ^_^
You'll have one character to notice, perhaps two!
Okay... not sure what you mean. I suppose it has something to do with your next post?
Quick Note: if you don't want to stare at the terrible forum art, in the lower left is a drop down box you can change to Work Safe mode.
They're supposed to change it back to what it was..
Haha, so upon fully zooming out I can see the entire picture. On the right is a demonic scarecrow looking thing with a pitchfork and straw coming out of patched knees and elbows. On the left on the far left is a guy standing in a gold robot body with a steam whistle coming out of his back and wearing glasses and a shortened top hat which is purple and completely clashes with the gold. Below them all is a Orc type thing with big as teeth, green skin, and a horned helmet. Although the fur boots with rope are a nice touch.
I felt the need to share that ^_^
Oh, heh. I forgot I could zoom out on the browser. Too bad my type font is about 3pt right now. I can barely make out the letters. Now, I shall give them all names!
Gold Robot Guy: Geco
Loot Bag Guy: Rensha
Brown Hair Lady: SoHee
Armored Orc: Phoenix
Blond Elf Lady: (missing additional female candidates, so...) Drice!
Out of Place Gangster: Belfucious
Evil Scarecrow: Me :)
You could have gone with Mire, but Drice is funnier =D
Lol. I am easily forgotten...I don't post that often. ^-^
Does anyone else have to hit the "Remember Me?" button in order to post messages? I do, and it's a little annoying since I don't like having cookies like that on my computer :/
Oh, and that's very funny Chris. I do not have a tatoo on my neck -_-
not to post messages per say, but if you are not having the setting "remember me" you loose your session after a while and is logged out, hence not being able to post
If I don't have it on, I can't even post something I wrote in a notepad hours ago and paste it over right away. Takes like 30 seconds to log in and paste a message, so I don't think it's logging me out that fast. I don't know, but I guess I'll just have to remember to hit the log out button when I leave this page.
I never have to log out. I never have to log in. I only had to do it once more after they updated teh forum.
I have the remember me ticked and it keeps it.
btw - so funny, that list of characters. lol. I actually saw myself as the guy at the top in leather with the sword. He's a spitting image of Russus Adamas Legio, a very short character in Tome. :)
I login and out on my work computer, otherwise I remain logged in. I've never really had a problem with losing messages, as I don't type any IC posts here.
I'm one of those stubborn and never learns people. I type all my messages here because it just feels more fun that way. Looking at a blank white screen demotivates me. I've had the same issue with losing posts, but never remember by the end to back it up. Even just doing ctrl+c would work. I'm so used to being able to just press back that I never account for those more uncommon accidents where posts are lost, then I growl angrily and avoid the forums for at least 2 days.
Hmm, I don't think the characters at the top were included in the background. They're part of the header banner. And I think that one you're referring to, Ren, is a woman. The pointed chin and larger eyes are usually associated as female traits, where males usually have square chins and broad brows.
I'm with Geco on the posting method, though. I type everything right here in the quick reply box. There's a spellchecker too, so no need to past into word and run a spellcheck (if i remember).
On a side note, Is anyone not able to get Wave to load? For the past two days, whenever I open it, all I get is a blank white screen, and it says the page is finished loading...
This is why I simply cannot write here. I don't like allowing this to happen. As for the blank white screen, I'll reiterate that I write in gmail. The interface is customizable with different color palettes, the spellchecker is built in to both gmail and Chrome, it autosaves everytime you pause. It's as easy as having another tab open (or browser, if you prefer to Tab between Skysail to read other posts), and it isn't Word. I'm not going to fault anyone for using the forum interface to type their posts, I just have no pity for lost posts due to browser issues or mistakes.
Wave has been working for me, Shari. It might be your browser, or perhaps something on Googles end.
Doublepost.
Sidenote: I like seeing that Skysail has a fraction the posts as RPMB, yet half the views. I'd like to think it is due to people reading along anonymously. Doubtful.
And you really shouldn't, it's our own damn fault for being stubborn. Like I said, I think about 99% of the errors that do occur and you can't simply hit BACK to retrieve what you wrote could be solved by using COPY just before you post in case something does go wrong (it's something I'm going to start making an effort to remember to do). As for the other 1%, well, that's when your comp freezes and your SOL, and why doing it in Gmail is good cause it will autosave for you and you'll never lose that much, but I just can't bring myself to do it =PQuote:

I saw that too and wondered what the hell was going on. Although a mystery fan base would be pretty cool. It makes you wonder how JOLT counts views. I often have a second tab open when I right to refer to other posts, is that 2 views? I'm also a culprit for coming on, seeing there's a new post, clicking through to see it, but then leave it to read for later. There could be a mystery fan base, or that anyone who randomly stumbles here will check it out vs the RPMB because the RPMB's content is denoted by it's name.Quote:

We need Poirot!
Shari - yeah... I know... too bad eh? About the leather hatted girl. Looks a lot like Russus though. ;) Just brown hair instead of black with a red tint. on Wave - nope, haven't had that issue. I would also say it is a browser issue. Chrome (googles browser) works great. Just takes a day or two fiddling to find out where everything is, but there is a cookies-off version of a tab you can open (incognito) if you wanted to look at bank accounts or something. forum cookies I don't care about though.
Arc - I agree... Love the autosave. I also write in the text box (just so i can read posts as I type along, don't miss anything) but I copy with ctrl+a then ctrl+c. from time to time i write in google docs though. I definitely write there for my stories on the solo aspect. That autosave is righteous.
I also noticed the views thing. We have a lot of anonymous guests viewing the forum though. Just wanted to point out that i DO check that. Just a lot of people don't stay and make a name to join us.
I agree. Still, I'll dare to dream. There are lurkers who F5 the **** out of our thread, hoping and praying for an update.Quote:

lol i'm one of them hahaha!
wow a lot of us are on!
wave party!
L... O... L... haha
That's a great post... lol
hard act to follow.
heh. ^_^
