Grats Geco! Hope it works out for you. I've always wanted to work in film/television.
Nice, Geco! Hopefully things start falling into place.
I took the next scene further than probably necessary. I do like the idea of introducing the narrators perspective into a scene that has already played out - so the idea is giving your characters a chance to reflect on something that has recently happened, but being able to write in the present without feeling the need to back-date any information. If I missed anything or left out any pertinent information, take liberties.
good to know that the contact worked out for you. ;)
oh, and i took it in arc's post that people got off in the plateau area hours before and Arch had ari simply drop her off later. i might be wrong on that, but i took it that way because he incorporated the stone arch that Tarra mentioned.
correct me if i'm wrong, arc. :)
btw, i liked that post too WF. Only thing I could say for improvement is to keep in the past verb tense, rather than switch between present and past verb tenses. unless you're experimenting with present verb tenses or something. but yeah, i really enjoyed getting into that scene.
on an unrelated note, amy and i are fed up with Rydges and are currently looking for another job while working here. Besides that, they have overbooked the hotel during the busy winter and are kicking us out june 15th, but we think we've found a flat after that. As far as my future schedule, who knows? I hope it doesn't impede. It IS however, inspiring me to write, because i'm very tired of thinking about work and how to improve. Basically i've outgrown what this place can teach me, and can refocus on writing. *nods* that and i'm over homesickness and depression for the most part. Vodka helps with that i think. lol.
Hey Geco, next time your on wanna head over to Google wave and approve my Chara so I can get a post up for him? Meanwhile I'll try to hammer out a post for Aram...
Finally I am back. I posted and sorry for the lenght but I had a lot to cover. Google wave doesn't work for me but I will folllow everyone to a new page or whatever when the time comes just let me know. Happy easter everyone!
Great post, Drice!
Good to have you back in the fray.
Anyone able to add me to this wave thing or at least keep a contact email for me listed?
I can be reached at tomfitzsimons@hotmail.com - I've currently just had my job suspended due to circumstances beyond my control and if I don't get a job within the month I'm going to have to move back to Australia, leaving my girlfriend behind in the UK in the process. My internet access is...sporadic, at best, but wherever everyone ends up migrating I want to make damn sure I can come along for the ride.

I always have that problem... I am trying to keep it past tense..... she cried.. she tripped... she kicked his A$$.... you get the idea. I am trying to keep a close watch on it though. I Think what happened is that I started writing in one tense, put it down, then picked it up in another tense. I tried to correct it, but not well enough it seems.
Ya, sorry about that Shari, I did the best with what little info I had, I wanted to attach an OOC that you could change whatever you needed to.
I love it when people wander into this part of the forums, using it as a dumping ground for the +1 post counts.
Hmmm, well it seems i finally have a constant internet connection so if it is okay i would like to start where i left off.. after reading the IC of course.
sure. I already mentioned that she was on the airship (Arlen didn't want her in too much danger, of course. And with their fear of undead spirits, it just made sense). There are others on the ship too. Not really sure who, I forget by now.
Hey sorry for inactivity. My husbend has been using our only internet conection, which happens to be on his laptop. Mines not working. Second I will be in las vegas for next 3 days so no real posting for me.
fruedian slip? :) ^_^ having issues on the home front? ------> Husb "end" ? :P
joking joking... ;) i know i'm a jerk.
Sorry, we were shooting today and I'm exhausted. Should be able to get something up tomorrow though.
Alright sounds good I will read up on the IC ASAP and just jump into the fray when I can. which will be as soon as my laptop is charged and i can read from bed lol.
sorry guys.. I hate doign this again, but life just keep biting me in the ass... I've been working extra both this weekend and a couple of days in this week, plus I'm gonna go away this upcoming wend and have some planning and fixing to do beforehand....so don't expect any post from me until next week :( Hope things start to calm down for me soon... I need some sleep....
I think I'm just happy the prefaced apology wasn't followed by a "I'm leaving you all for another roleplaying forum."
No worries SoHee - Jade will be alive and well when you get back.
Or will she?
/thunderclap
someone want to invite me to this google wave thing? zedpcee@hotmail.com
Hey, was that a light jab at me (and those like myself)? elohelz, I keed :3
In my defense, there's just nothing that interests me RPwise on here now XD
Also, on a related note, I thought this place disappeared cause my bookmark couldn't work and I didn't see it listed on Jolt. Anyone notice we are like a hidden board?
In another related note add me to the Wave thingamajigger
southwestninja@gmail.com
No jab, no chop busting.
Many reasons - much of it found in the Q&A, Announcements and General forums. Jolt removed Utopia from the forum homepage party because we don't share the comic theme. Conspiracy theorists surmise it's also in part to start weening Utopia from their offered webgames. The two developers devote a handful of their weekend hours to coding for the broken Utopia game, and by all accounts participation in the game is dwindling. We'll see how long the game and associated forum stick around. We're continuing to write here, but have made the appropriate contingency plans to maintain the community. Who knows what will happen?
Oh yea yea I heard about that and read the message the new devs has posted. I didn't even know Mehul didn't run the game anymore haha. But, then, I haven't played in years. Game was cool, but not interesting enough and too many people consistently at the top (plus the emergence of cheaters, which is stupid-retarded).
I just wanted us to be speshul D=
Seems like things are going a little dead around here, well, I'm not here to help. After mulling about it for awhile now I feel like I just need a break. I'm at a point where I'm bouncing between jobs and trying to figure out my future and URP is becoming more and more like work and just another burden and zapping the fun out of it. Sorry if I'm disappointing anyone, but I figure better to just step away for awhile rather than leaving you guys feeling like you're waiting on me. I'll of course stay around and keep reading and be here to GM, just no posts for a little bit. Thanks for understanding guys. And forge on!
Not a problem. :) everyone needs a break from time to time, so take one. I was thinking of taking one from utopia during my winter (june through august), myself. I'll be working a crap ton and would like to give snowboarding a good run in my free time this year since i've already spent 1000 dollars on it and will likely spend more. Obviously, i'll still check, but more of a casual posting, than an alertness. I need a break soon so my posting doesn't get worse than it already is. no real time to think about it, just reacting.
sorry, second night in a row i planned on writing. i'm going to take a nap, we'll see how much i feel like writing after that. sorry, again. :\
Somehow I always get drawn back to these boards. Glad to see it isn't completely dead yet. Anyhow, not sure if you've seen this yet, but I did a google search and came across this:
http://www.urbandictionary.com/defin...%20Roleplaying
Nice...
yeah ferran did it if i recall.
That's the funniest part... it appears that he registered on urbandictionary just to post that entry.
doesn't surprise me. :) well i wish it was a little bit more active at the moment. I'd have something for you to do Aewyn. Sorry :\
AAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH URP!
and stuff
So things have really seemed to dry up eh? I'd just like to say, that maybe you guys should consider starting another thread? While I've loved Skysail, and think it is one of the better threads I've been a part of (no bias whatsoever) I think most people get motviated, or re-motivated, by starting something new and fresh. Would I love for it to still be going strong when I decide to return, of course, but as I can't say when that might be, sometimes I think you just need a clean slate to work with.
That said, I also recognize how much work some people had put into that thread, and I do think it's worth continuing, but I figured I'd throw out a new thread as an idea.
I am back! So sorry guys work sucked. We have three 'high' profile inspections. Our owners are trying to convince corporate to let us shut it down, our lease expires next year and we don't make them any money. Even so the last month has been horribly long hours but thats all done. i am off the next two days working on a post for tonight...
I'm back in the country; albeit not yet home.
I have no intention of bailing on skysail, and will have a post up once I'm situated. I don't like to percieve threads as something I can pick up and cast aside easily. I'm too invested in the story and the characters. If we simply abandon this world after so much thought and development, I know I for one won't be ready to jump in to a new creation. If Ren and Shari are still posting, you can count on me to help drive the story.
I'm not ready to give up on Skysail just yet, it is an awesome story (even if I'm not loving my twins that much)... I'll try to get something up tonight or tomorrow...
added: it's still a bit hectic in my life atm, but I'm trying to find some peace and energy to write... miss it...
I haven't given up on it. I will say I didn't expect the drop off of posting just because Phoenix took a vacation, though. For me, roleplaying is only really fun when everyone is participating. When it's just me and one other person, it doesn't really feel as much like roleplaying; makes it more difficult to get into the mood, I suppose you could say. I have been meaning to get a reply up to Ren's post, however, and I'll work on that now.
i'm still here.
it doesn't matter for me to write with one or several people. Obviously, the more the merrier. But motivation on writing is no big. It's the consistent writing quality that I struggle with.
Hey, I'm still alive too.
Had the same problem as Kain, my link was all of a sudden leading to a dead end, and I had been using it for so long I had a hard time finding Utopia again. Then when I did, I couldn't find this forum on there...
Anyway, I've been following along on Google Wave and trying to keep up here but I just am finding it too hard to stay motivated. Partly because life is stressed (still haven't found a job after getting laid off) and partly because everytime I seem to log in I have to play catch up which gets frusterating, so I just skip ahead to the present which means there are huge holes of time that haven't been filled in leading to unfullfilled and "cardboard" feel character. Also I am not very happy with the way Aram turned out. I may bow out of Skysail for a bit. Do with Aram what you will, but even if things settle down into a much desired consistency on the home front and I choose to reinvest in skysail, it wouldn't be with Aram.
Either way, I'll never leave Utopia. I'll always be around, sniffing through threads and posting in the message boards. Hopefully soon I can dive back into RPing, just not at the moment...
