Yes its sad to see Earth go,Patience we have no hard feelings.Like others said,it was more each community always felt the other got more attention.Even with that most utopians are sad to see what has happened to Earth even with the destroyed game we are suffering with atm.I hope if it was reversed Earth players would feel the same. Its a sad day for both communities since alot played on both.
saD.

VT2: If you're talking about user-managed Earth, I'm one of the game mods. Here's a list of what we could 'tinker with':
- We had a link called 'Same Computer' which, when pushed, would tell us if another country was being played from the same computer.
- We had a similar link for 'Same IP'.
- We had a Delete button to delete countries.
- After a couple of years, we were finally given the ability to change country names (instead of just deleting them for inappropriate names).
Ummm... Oh yeah, we could hand out activation codes for those who had entered their email addresses incorrectly. lol
We didn't get to make any changes or do anything useful, really - but since there were no admins doing anything with Earth, we had extra tools developed to help us be more effective with the information we had access to (news and IP tracking, for example). But really we just had the bare minimum, and we were given that only because no one else was doing anything and we screamed so loudly that Mehul could no longer ignore us. ;)
Oh patience. sad to hear of your loss in RL. I hope things get better for you and your family.
Wow, those are some hardcore tools you were given.
I guess it at least beats having nothing at all.
The last 'age' I played was the first one OMAC 'managed,' if you can even call it that.
It's a shame, really. OMAC bought two legends, and managed to run them both into the ground in no time at all.
WHAT!!!..
its over.. for us too..
Very very sad to see this. I started out in Earth 2025 in Round 1 and played it for many years.
This is likely because 1) the company can't even maintain Mehul's love-slave, Utopia as part of the Swirve.com merger and 2) to get more players to possibly migrate over from Earth to Utopia due to the EPIC fail so far over here.
This is an all-time low for Jolt/OMAC. You'll have to work hard to top this.
sad earth gone...
i've been playing there too T_T
old memory ^^
oh yeah, for sure
I remember back in 2005(i think) they made a minor change to one of the government types and everyone on the server almost died from shock. Mehul neglected earth shamefully
Perhaps if the earth community migrates to utopia we can all get along better now, though, as theres no competing for attention now. The extra numbers might help to keep at least one of the swirve games alive.
they could migrate users from every game they have here and it wont matter if they cant make a game even function after a year having access to the old code prior to buying it,then over a year re-writing it after buying it only to have it crash like a lead balloon day 1 of start up.
Looks like they are killing both at the same time or close to it whether they mean to or not.
I played Earth for a little while too. but it didnt captivate me like utopia ;)
Shutting down Earth is crap! I played it a few times.
YOU ALL should join up with us in Utopia so we can at least keep one alive.
I never have played Earth, but after reading this, I find that it makes me sad to see it shut down, along with such a major failure and degradation of Utopia. And we do all know what's staring us in the face... the slow and lingering death of Utopia as well.
Earthers I feel your pain...
and Patience, my condolences in the loss of your Grandpa... prayers for you and your family.
Such a long standing game is being taken away from a community that still wants to play it. Hopefully the community can stay strong.
I for one started playing Earth before Utopia, 10 or so years ago. And though only played as an occasional user, I continued to play it even when I was crazy busy with Utopia. If it weren't for Earth, I wouldn't ever have found this game, and while I'm totally done with Utopia, it provided me with huge amounts of entertainment for many years, and an amazing community of friends who I still keep in touch with.
It's really a rather sad thing to see it shut down, and I would hope that this community can somehow manage to keep itself alive. Mehul was a lot of things, but he was also responsible for creating these two games that have given us a whole hell of a lot.
