It's a useless replacement for a niché personality that was useless for 90% of the ages it was around.
Doesn't speak very highly of it, really.
If there really must be a choice in its stead, make it a combat-oriented one.
no draft costs for orcs. instead of -50% draft costs.
As long as the draft stays locked at 1%, AKA 'normal,' and the only other allowed choice is 'none,' no one from either camp should have any reason to complain.
Give Orcs +1 Dspec and compensate Humans with a 6/5 elite and the old mini learn they used to have.

They had an 8/6 army one age, and that was one age too many.
Free draft is enough to make them work, and also enough to make them useful.
Mini-learn I can see on either orc or human, actually.
i wouldnt mind if artisan is scrapped either, but it needs to be replaced with something new/useful...i think the protection bonus is nice and could be retained for a new personality...i suggested bringing back general, if not general, something else with the "50% Protection of Buildings from Tornadoes, Arson Operations, Raze and Massacre Attacks" bonus?

It works if it's on a personality, so your entire race, and thus gameplay-experience, won't be dominated by the NEED to get honor.
Isnt Conquerer stepping on War Heros toes a bit? What with enhance conquest and all.
Increase gains would make it almost 'must have' for orc if ambush protection of their elites get changed though as it will multiply with their gains bonus.
Races:
* remove extra stealth from DE
* remove +1 mana from elf, give them some small boost in economy and/or MS
* add one more race, strong as pure attacker, but not in way orc is
Personalities:
* remove MS from mystic, add +1 mana and double rune production.
* make art/merch more viable
Buildings:
* weaken protection from learn OR sci cost decrease from schools, merge with libs
Science:
* Make pop sci more useful
Thievery/Magic:
* decrease gains from rob the towers op
* remove lightning strike from DE
* drop mana/stealth cost on intel ops by 1
* make MV duration based, affects all ops. Allow casting on self
* make wizards train faster
* make fog % based
Attacking:
* make ambushes easier to calculate
* add some minor gains on undersending by 5% or less
* bring back regular raze in war, 30-50% of oow gains. Rest of destroyed are buildings
Stances:
* make peaceful stance useful
* fort gives 15% def, auto fail on self spells
War:
* less protection from outside hits
* make wars less destructive (ie make recovering easier)
* remove nw based attack time in hostile/war
A warhero is an experienced, renowned soldier.
A conqueror is in it to become a warhero.
Any strong, attacking personality will always be keyed to the strongest, attacking race.
Not a problem, really.
Replace elf's mana-regen with the ability to damage the target's mana by 10% of their current levels.
Give mystic +1 mana, and access to all offensive spells.
Make dwarf the only race that has meteors as a racial spell.
Give human fog, in addition to keeping it on dwarf, and swap the fog-immunity from dwarf to orc.
a big NO for removing NW based attacks! this is absurd, the war strategy is about hitting right targets and not random so u can have same attack time, if u remove it the smaller kds will never have a chance to win a war to a lousy bigger kd.
give more credit to a war win. 5% honor! and some % of explore pool!
avians, undead back will be a nice impact.

there is definitely a problem with OPS! the rate of failure is too high, (5 raw vs 1.5 raw)

perhaps something where conditions had to be met....
i know the old meter was good... but guys still had to give up after taking a beating which often causes age long wars that just ruin the fun for kingdoms...
perhaps something where there was 3 conditions... and 2 of the 3 had to be met by the winners in order to obtain an automatic win...
ie:
leading by "x" amount of acres
increasing NW or difference in NW between the kingdoms by "X" amount
elites/specs lost
NW lost
anything that shows the war has been won...
now.. instead of the kingdom that sits there and takes a beating.... the goals are set for a kingdom to win, and in order to force a win they have to fullfill "X" number of conditions at one time (after a min time of war of course) to be given the win
this enables a kingdom to earn the win and know what has to be done to earn it...
of course after min time the option for any kd to withdraw should still be there so they can leave at anytime if they still prefer...
Homes BR should be * 5. Increase max pop by 9
Mills should lower building costs 4, exploration costs 3 and increase build speed 2.
Stables need to hold 100 ponies again.
With the current science system libs should get a slight boost.
Make them worth having at mid level science and not so broken at high level science.
Schools
Decrease science costs by 2 Protection 4
GS 2.5
Artisan needs major boost. I suggest change the name to engineer and give them +15 BE
Sage should get immune to learns.
Enhanced conquest is useless, something needs to be done about that. I like the gain idea posted by some of our members.

ive suggested something similar about dwarf and speed build, just make them pay, but make sure they dont get building credits on attacks, otherwise it can become abusable!

Or make dwarf able to use credits for speed-build, so they have some use for them - finally.
Please for once look into this phase with a different set of minds. The critical part is more and more players are leaving the game - and it has been like this for many years now! It’s the facts beyond any doubt whatsoever. So how about we for once look into the game quality? It would prove to be a win win situation for both the players and the owners. The more players who play utopia, the more fun it’s for your company to continue to throw in money and effort to the game.

Look beyond the usual race & personality preferences. Sure there might be a few critical errors, which you would want to fix! But please do look into the needed reforms utopia desperately lack.
* Build a new relation system
- Your current relation system is no way near being good enough! The smart kingdoms will withdraw rather than waiting for the surrender. I cannot believe this is what was intended when it was introduced? - Beside it’s a debate often discussed among the older generation of utopia players. In other words is a HOT topic already!
* Make it easier to recover after a war
- Once a kingdom gain a substantial amount of success (defined as acres) during a war, one would have to spend a lot of time building/training their land & troops. We ain't just talking about the 24 hours before you come OOW (out of war). Often you add 2-3 RL days on top of this, easily!
People log in only to build their acres, train troops, cast self spells, and maybe dice a little land. They will be out so quick they won't even see the 2nd advertisement! Off hand, I'd take me 80 seconds every 12/20 hours. In other words, you want to boost the economy or in some way reward the warring kingdoms. It just ain't fast enough!
* Improve the organization of the weaker kingdoms.
- Make it easier for weaker kingdoms to get rid off unwanted provinces and/or inactives. It’s a multiplayer game, and it will only become real fun, when the 25 provinces are working on the same agenda.
* IRC
Integrate a cgi:irc, java application into the game! Use existing servers or maybe setup your own. It will boost the quality of the weak kingdoms within a few ages. Some of the larger MMORPG (read: Massive Multiplayer Online Role Playing Game) suppliers already recommend the use of irc! Some has even setup their own server and guides. An example would be omerta, a MMORPG mafia game. I'd claim it's a CLEAR fault in your marketing/development strategy that you still haven't - big words, and by that I mean no offense, but one shouldn't ignore the obvious! That being said, then you've taken a HUGE step already by allowing trading. So it can really just be a matter of time before you take the next!
Why? It’s of interest because it allow a large number (e.g. 25) players to communicate in REAL TIME. This improves the organization within any kingdom, and at the same time bond people together. Every single top kingdom use irc! Not one exception. Who spend the most time on utopia? The dedicated players, absolutely! Would you have an interest in people spending more time in-game? I think we both know the answer to this question!
What keeps people playing utopia one year after another?
It’s simple. The action (waving, wars, etc) and the social aspects.
Good luck running the game. Just started playing utopia again after +14 months of absence, and I must say the future for utopia looks a lot better than it did back then. So implement the needed reforms, spend the little effort that it takes, and see if this is something you want to run/own tomorrow :)

Make moves more open to low-tier and ghettos.
Give any kingdom with 12 provinces or less the ability to merge themselves with another kingdom that has 12 provinces or less.
A new relationsystem is something the game needs, but I don't think I have what it takes to come up with a better one.
IRC we'll all manage without, and have for several years.
oh, a mate of mine told me it was fixed a while back, too bad was a really nice feature.
bring back non-size based attacktimes during war !! gogo (and for those of you saying cows will just abuse, hey the gains are still bad jus the attacktime that is shorten down.

Jimmy, I think those things have to be planned out far more than 10 days in advance. Agree that they're all important points, what would be nice is OMAC stating their agreement with those issues and inviting debate on them leading up to changes done next time. We aren't in any hurry as long as OMAC are still working on basic issues.

working on game-play and race/personality balance for this game has been an issue from the beginning. from exploits people obviously saw coming, to surprise exploits that have emerged to be common usage across a course of ages. To having to fear exploits that aren't in existence, because of ones that use to exist.
that bred into game programming, game funding; and the actual staff the game has had to work on such problems, we arrive at the point we have today.
perhaps, assuming they don't already, it's simply time for some of the OMAC staff to sit down, pull a Mehul(sorry for the comparison OMAC), and play the game along with us so that they can have a better understanding of the problems we have to deal with.
I'm all for developers playing the game, but only if their Race/Personalities are chosen by random and only if they play Genesis only.
If a Developer were to be in your KD, they would need to either inform you or lie to you, neither of which is fair on that KD or other KDs. They could never stay with a KD lest it be accused of cheating, favouritism, etc.
