@ OP (/command assume OP naive not troll)
Alliances are basically groups of players that band together for various reasons. These reasons can range from social interaction and roleplay to military intervention and assistance. Most military alliances have rules governing their member's actions, which generally require kingdoms to handle their own problems unless they go beyond a 1v1 situation. Waving a HaJ kingdom will not result in a HaJ gangbang unless you wave a HaJ kingdom that is already involved in another conflict (Do CEs before you wave!)
Basic Types of "Alliances"
Untagged:
Member Connections = A non-official "alliance" between two or more kingdoms based on member connections. Such "alliances" are generally limited to the extent that if a friend asks for help from a friend in another alliance it is given.
NAP - Non-Aggression Pact = Pretty much an always active CF between two or more kingdoms without requiring the in-game mechanic to be turned on. No military interaction between the two kingdoms happens, whether against each other or in aid.
MAP - Mutual-Assistance Pact = Two or more kingdoms agreeing to help each other out when needed. If one kingdom gets double-hostiled, other members of the MAP will step in to help.

Social Alliance = This type of alliance exists for social interaction. There are (Or were in the past) social alliances that formed for roleplay purposes, to make new friends, or to keep in touch with old friends after reshuffles or kingdoms disbanding. Most social alliances are old, and their history is more relevant than their present. Even though social alliances do not have military goals, they can still function similar to a "member connection" type of untagged alliance when members are in need.
Diplomatic Alliance = This type of alliance is basically a group of kingdoms or players working together in a diplomatic sense to resolve conflicts that extend beyond 1v1 fights. A true diplomatic alliance does not get involved militarily in fights, but exerts diplomatic pressure through the myriad of connections they have in the game. Not a common type of alliance, especially these days.
Defensive Alliance = This type of alliance exists to protect it's members against "unfair" actions, such as double-hostiles, vulturing after fierce wars, and receiving OOW hits. A defensive alliance commonly has elements of a diplomatic alliance, in that they will generally try to resolve conflicts using diplomatic means before jumping into a situation with their armies. Most alliances in Utopia identify themselves as defensive alliances.
Offensive Alliance = Alliances in this category openly admit to working together in 2v1 hostiles, intel-sharing, GBing, and OOW-razing. Because of the "unfair" gameplay that these alliances employ, most people despise them and offensive alliances are generally shunned. Some defensive alliances get labeled with this group when they don't have a diplomatic staff and jump into situations right away to defend their members.
What a load of crap you posted there Che....
An alliance is a group a kds who help each other out when needed, that's it. Not sure where all that garbage about different kinds of alliances came from, lol.
cause everything is black and white you know
In Utopia, it often is.
Because obviously you know everything about alliances...
"Hey guess, my kd can't afford to send a dragon to our war target, can you throw one over there?"
"Dudes, we are getting smacked in this war, can you help raze these guys so we can get a win?"
If all alliances helped their members whenever they needed any help, then that's how it would look. However, most alliances don't. Alliances have rules, and the types of rules they have determine what type of alliance they are. Certainly, most of this information is from pre-Age 30 or earlier (Back when there was more than 5 alliances in the game) but a lot of it is still relevant (Unlike DHaran) in understanding the purpose of alliances.
I enjoyed Che Guevera's response far more than anyone else's in here.
DHaran, i hate to say it, since you are a fellow player from Maryland like myself, but things really seem to go over your head.
You like to troll.... but realistically it just makes you look ignorant, and the fact that you get caught up in such petty arguements with people really manifests the fact that you care far too much, know too little, and try way too hard. Going outside is a good thing. Maryland is beautiful and is an amazing place for activities.
hope this doesnt set you off too much, hopefully its just what you need to hear to relax a bit.
**** DHaran, even the forum dwellers are stylin on you now. Your stock is plummetting.
lol at you nubs. Discussing "alliances" from YEARS ago is a waste of time and has no relevance to NOW. Why would the OP who knows nothing of alliances want to hear a bunch of crap that doesn't even apply anymore? And Che of course they don't help with every little thing, I wouldn't call wanting a 50% strength dragon for your own war as 'needing help'. I'm talking about fake wars, double hostiles, gang bangs, etc. Use your brain.
And DDodge, show me exactly what has 'gone over my head', lol. Congrats on enjoying Che's response, but it was pretty useless when it comes to explaining alliances to a nubie.
alliances explained: never hit a kd tagged TCL, they're good guys and it is considered extremely rude to hit them, the entire server will look upon you as a leper and an outcast.
all other tags are fine, go for it.
TCL still exists?
TCL has Pulse, the best kd out there. Although Fury is a tough contender.
Its hardly an alliance if its just one kingdom. Just saiyan.
