Don't you have anything better to do than bump an already logged thread every single day?
play nicely please
bump
I do belive a I can get a bump now... at least so they know to remove DE or smtg next age if they can't at least check a bug.
I'm so curious to see how they try to balance the races for next age with changes and such when the magic is buged... it will surely be very funny :)
Imagine when they ask for feed-back on the first changes they post... :)
Now suspend EVERYBODY that used Magic Shield last age, because it was buged.
And suspend every Dwarf that played last age because they took advantage of the buged magic system.
A 'bug' is only an 'exploit' when your overlords decide they want to make examples out of people.
Magic shield currently completely shuts down magic, making it totally useless, and everyone is using this.
Compare that to 200 people giving themselves millions of networth, and billions of gold. Oh, sorry - it's 'some 600' now, isn't it?
I do have to agree that the the point where 'bug' ends and 'exploit' begins is not a decision that rests in the players' hands.
I also agree that sometimes you need to make an example of a certain percentage of a user base. There are many analogies and plenty of precedence for this.
Nimbly side-stepping debate on who is 'to blame' for the exploit causing strain on the server/game; I would argue that discouraging exploiters from trying to cause further problems is a good thing for the majority of players.
There doesn't exist a single situation where you gain from making an exampe out of someone over punishing them for real.
I'm fine with being 'punished' for 'abusing bugs,' but we both know the bug in question, as well as the punishment, are both little more than jokes.
Insulting and humiliating the players won't discourage them from 'abusing bugs.'
All it accomplishes is make them more determined to beat the system, and make them feel like martyrs.
Certainly.
When magic shield was up last age, my 3 raw WPA dwarf was, for all intents and purposes, immune to magic.
mine wasnt, i had 2.5 raw and 100% sci :(
magic shield didn't keep anyone from opping me either. also had close to 4 wpa raw
Magic shield did not much for me either.. ms, storms and nasty stuff like that seemed to be my shadow.
Even crappy orcs got through easily.. But I only had 2.7 raw wpa with 60% science..
2.7*1.6 = 4.32
2.5*2 = 5
Not good enough when they guys opping you got 4-5 wpa raw and >150% sci. 4*2.5= 10
oh...and those crappy orcs probably wasn't that crappy when it came to mod wpa ;)
