Hey all, its been a long time since ive been on these boards, anyone around who remembers me? or failing that my stories, The coloured paths, The Orb?
Wow, there's an old face all the way back from the days when I was a newb just starting out. Good to see you sir. I definitely remember your stories, and was even in the coloured paths for awhile. SoHee will be happy to see you back - I think those were always some of her favs.
I hope you're sticking around man and going to be posting with us again.

There's always guerrilla tactics. Be sly and subtly slip fifty or so post about this place on random message boards. :P Or be extremely crafty and make one post, but have a few aliases back you up on how awesome this board is.

Just so everyone knows, I'm currently traveling on business, and it's been hard to find time to post. Expect something soon though ^_^
This is to all Furious players:
I have the idea to write a story (hopefully a full-fledged book) revolving around Furious. Ark said he didn't mind, so I just wanted to drop a line to everyone else through here. I'd like to use everyone's characters, in some way, and the ideas we have already presented. I know that, legally, there's really nothing stopping me from doing this on my own, but I'd rather get the permission of you lot first. Names would be changed in the actual story, unless no one cares if the originals are kept, and it would center -mostly- around Dante. There is only so much you can actually RP, and even with the Dante backstory that will be revealed it's harder to really play him as it could be done in a book.
My plan is to just start outlining what I'd like to occur, and to setup bios for each character based on what is written. Granted we are in no way done with the thread, so to actually do a majority of the writing (depending on how much 'actual' Furious stuff I'd like to include) I would have to wait until more is revealed. Course, if anyone is willing you can email me any pertinent info regarding what they have created in the thread in order to help me ^^ I would also like to keep you all updated on it, and as I start to write it put it up online so that it can be critiqued and such =D
Basically, let me know if you object to using your stuffs in my book either here (thread or PM) on at my email (preferably here, so nothing gets lost.

Another quick note, as I don't think you mentioned this in your email.
Using our characters in your story is a little much. I think that's toeing the line even if you change the names. Of course, none of us can stop you, but it's just the principle of the matter. I would advise that you perhaps were inspired by our characters, but nothing should be directly taken from our characters.
Secondly, while I do appreciate your concern, I don't think any of us will be truly offended unless you had a major book deal. :P
Oh I know, and I did not bring it up mostly because I was going to address the thread as a whole about it. Inspired characters is more what I am going for. I do not plan then to be direct copies, but similarities will be evident (though I plan to keep them minimal). Sorry if that is how it came out, but that's the added bonus of posting this here. Everyone can get a say out in the open :)
And yeah, like I said to you via email I just like giving proper credit and such. I highly doubt there's going to be a book deal in my future, though I'm not going to discredit myself I don't think I'm good enough for that haha Hell I'd just like to publish a moderately successful book just to say 'Yeah, I did that.'
If it got to that step, though, I'd have one hell of a 'Acknowledgments' page XD

Actaully, LK and Ark, copywright laws do apply to individual posts or sumbissions in any electronic form, including e-mails, forums posts, and even instant messages, unless otherwise disclosed (meaning you acknowledge in some way that the information can be used without your permission). This copywright is seperate from the one at the bottom of the webpage, and is implicit to the poster.
So, there is very much we can do to stop you, if we can prove the intellectual property is ours, as with any lawsuit :)

Hey, is this board still waking up after the change over, I used to post on here a long time ago, and now, its almost as dead as I remember the Earth 2025 boards being several years ago. The RP boards for Utopia have always been a hoppin place, and now no one even posts anymore....... My new sign up that I posted several days ago is still only like four or five from the top of the page...... I think I posted it Sunday afternoon, and in all that time, there has only been a few posts WOW
Blame modern video games and the increase of ADHD they cause among our over-stimulated under-achieving subsequent generations, and the wretched decay of intelligence and time among our own ilk.

Thats just messed up, geez I have a full time job, I play a lot of video games, and still I can find time to get into these boards to do a little creative writing....... Man this sucks and I was hopin my new thread would take off, it seems like a good idea anyway
All you can really do is keep posting and trying Dragon. Lots of former rpers have left these boards and there have been relatively few new faces that have shown up over the years, so much so we are where we are today. Part of the problem is that the committed few still on these boards are usually GMing the threads and in one or two more, so it's hard to attract people to new stories.
Haha, I kinda wish I could go back 8 years to those days when it seemed like every week there was a new thread and plenty of players to draw on. Back then I'd join threads without a second thought of how much time I'd have to put in, but of course now I'm more cautious :p

Everything has a beginning, and it is this new beginning which I think will aid us to continue on. With the new forum format, i think we will be able to keep some rpers we otherwise wouldn't be able to.
I think overall, the quality of the writers here are impeccable compared to other forums I have seen. The problem is always quantity, however. The other sites, overall, are very popular. Especially among the goth/emo kids who do nothing but whine and moan about their perfect lives while they watch anime.
Rensha, tell me about it! Jeebus, I can't tell you how many 4 line speed RPs I've seen in other forums where all people do is roleplay crappy god like anime characters and throwing "10 million slash" sword combos at people. Lots of power gaming and the sad fact is, these emo/goth kids think it's quality writing to shoot lightening bolts, fly, and be impossible to kill. I haven't seen writing bad enough until recently and I have to admit that some writing was so bad that I almost felt like burning my eyes with paint thinner.
There is actually a RP classification system that was developed in the Yahoo Chat RPs a while back. We conform to a style known as T1 or Para-RP. The regulations for this stress detail and thought behind the message before its posted in the chatroom and messages deemed unworthy are ignored. It's also organized in a by-turn basis. Other forms are T2 which differs in that its less strict and T3 which is your basic one-liner posts that serve naught but to annoy >.<
Like many of the forms out there, though, the Yahoo Chat RPs have devolved considerably into "slave trade" and "anime high school" third-rate RPs which are basically outlets for horny youngsters to cyber... poorly. Although, there is the occasional chat room with 4 or 5 people in it putting on a decent story. Sometimes it's rather interesting to join a room as a spectator and just enjoy the tale :)
Enough babbling. GI, stay away from the paint thinner, yes? There are much less painful ways to blind yourself.

Also the only acceptable weapon is a katana. Any other melee weapon would just be weird. And everyone is pristinely handsome or beautiful. And a loner with a tragic past and nobody understands them and they brood in the moonlight and they're also probably a vampire angel-demon orphan. And they wear a black hooded cloak.
I was lucky. Utopia Roleplay was my first real introduction to the concept of roleplaying, I only found the abysmal stuff later. It could have been a lot worse.

Yahoo! Chat doesn't exist anymore, really, there's not more user-made rooms. They killed those years ago because of pedophiles or something. I am recently back to these boards from about 4 years ago i think. I really enjoyed it, and it was my first intro in RP i drifted across from utopia the game and had an account here long after my kingdom had died. Unfortunately my degree and then my phD prevented any kind of time to enjoy these boards.
Just out of interest, did people leave or move? and when did this board change to the jolt forums?
Its a real shame that theres not more people about, i was quite excited about my new thread (Vices and Virtues) i have written more than i have put up coz its still only a sign up, but if anyone is reading it but cant join, i am happy to continue writing it as a story if the idea has appealed to anyone.
Shari, there is no such thing as a copywright. But there is such a thing as a copyright. I do think you're right. I hadn't thought that hard.

Anyway... Seeing as how there is a lack of general availability of posters, but there was some interest in a Star Wars thread about a month ago, how many would be able to commit time to such a thread if I adapted my fanfiction story into one? It will take place parallel to events in Episode II and will require a total cast of four or more, including myself. There will be some moderate restrictions to character creation, but nothing that would be terribly tyrranical. Just post here if you're interested and have the time to invest in a relatively fast paced story (relative to other threads on these forums ;P).
You said 'Star Wars' and I was all ears. I dunno, though, I might be. I'm having issues making replies as it is, and as I'm trying to get posting in Geco's new thread...

LordKain - I would prefer if you'd not use my characters in your story. I'm sorry, but I've grown quite attached to them and I'm thinking of putting a good use of them myself one day. So I'd prefer if you'd not use them at all. But I do wish you good luck with writing it out.
All I'm asking for, LK is one post a day. I've seen that request placed before, but I really do mean it. I'm not below moving the story past a participant who has gotten bogged with with work or whatever. We're all adults (or at least we write like adults), and such things are easily forgiven. I will not write a character out of the story for something as trivial, however. One post a day is not much to ask (that has been said before as well), and I'm not even asking that it be long and detailed. Simply stated, if you come to the forums and see your character has been initiated somehow, simply write up a paragraph and tack on an OOC to clarify the brevity.
In any case, I will start to adapt the plot reguardless. Originally, it was Valuri Sa'rea and his padawan, but overall the events won't change all that much. George Lucas' brainchild is really a literary masterpiece. From what I can tell, Star Wars has something for just about everyone. Great action, romance, humor and even suspense and drama.
Honestly, I don't often trust my personal work outside of my own head, but I think the talent here is uncanny. If it were possible for all of us to stick to a thread instead of everyone wanting to make and join all the threads around, I think we could have a lot of fun. So, I will evaluate the activity in the other threads and post the new thread in the next week. If things pick up in the stories I'm currently enrolled in, then Star Wars might be pushed back a little. I just want something to write, or pretty soon, I'll end up making a thread to write all by myself just to have somewhere to release my creative energies :)
When I was on here, it was oh, around 7 and a half to eight years ago. Ever since then, I have never been able to find a decent rp sight that comes anywhere near what this one puts out. Those one liner sights just drive me up the wall. I mean, one of the Star Wars Forums (Don't ask which, there must be a thousand dedicated sights) that I went to was nothing but one liner posts. There were times that I would spend all day waiting for someone to post so I could add my little bit to the story. These kids now don't even know what it is to rp it seems. I don't know if any of you are Star Wars fans like me, but when you enter a rp forum and the the main page shows a thread entitled Sith Academy or Jedi vs. Sith, your expectations go through the roof, and then fall to the lowest of the low as soon as the page loads. 600 one sentence posts about nothing at all. God its irritating to read some of the nonsense arguements that they make up in those threads, at least the ones I have always gotten into on here are ones that intrigue and stimulate the mind to continue adding useful things to the thread, not drag it out long after its dead and worthless
Shari Tana, I might be interested, since there is an apparent lack of interest in my thread. However, just like you, if things were to finally pick up in mine, then things might get dicey. Its been a while, but when I was on here before, I used to take part in as many as four or five different threads at once........ God I don't miss the headaches anymore.............. But my creative energies are more than plentiful I believe to take part in a Star Wars thread, I love Star Wars!!!!! LOL
Oh my, just what I need, to be tempted by a Star Wars thread. To be honest, if you put it up, I wouldn't be able to resist, and I'd probably pull out of Furious to make sure I had enough time for it ^_^
