Korp, I "abuse" game mechanics every round. It's called being smarter than everyone else and coming up with the best strategy. If you want to play a strategy game where your opponent doesn't try to get a leg up on you, I suggest solitaire.

Abusing game mechanics is cheating, thats what you take pride in finding how to best cheat in a game? So much for talk about actual skill. But I guess thats the only way you would win.

Let me help you. Game mechanics are what is written in the game (coded). They are released every round with patch notes (changes). It is our job as talented players to figure out how to break (abuse) those changes by finding the most imba strategy that they didn't see when they thought they balanced their game.

Learn how to compete, sir. I know you're new in utopia, but this is what has gone on for 17 years.

Godly, every kingdom start with same resources. Its ok if you decide to sacrifice few provinces resources for feed big prov but its not ok if you reset them for get easy and fast access to resources again. If you don't reset and recover natural its strategy play, with reset its game abuse. Basically its rotate real money (credits) for game resources.

I understand what you're saying, but I don't distinguish between that and other things. Why is it legal to have your allies release to 0 thieves and rob them or 0 defense and hit them? You're obtaining free resources. Is the specific action here because shop items are so sacred that we can't ever use them for an advantage? On top of it, they already balanced the issue to where it isn't profitable. We didn't gain **** compared to what we lost. Typically when an issue is such a hot issue that an admin is ready to action it, there is fair warning that it is not ok.

You see, I didnt need to abuse game mechanics to win a crown. Just some good old fashioned dirty play was all that was needed. But the rest of us that play within the rules knows what you are talking about is cheating to win which obviously havent got you that far since it took a golld old fashioned ganbang before you actually could secure a crown (plus the cheating then)

If you have 0 tpa you are easy for op. There is no game abuse. All work how is supposed. If its friendly farming there is moral problem but not game problem.
About reset with new changes its different. Im sure you all can understand it just don't want to admit. This is not "strategy play" its loophole in system. Good Kingdoms shouldn't being "creative" how to abuse system. Its bad for all game.

I view the 24 hr protection as a poorly balanced feature, yes. There are many ways to use it to your advantage. Some of them have been highlighted in this thread, some of them have not (I'll be saving those for another day).

This is incorrect, 20-25k troops were not removed and they were not exclusively from d specs. About 12k troops were removed as you aided GC (about 200k a prov, which i cant remove directly) as well as soldiers and i took them from top down, i.e soldiers down to thieves. As i cannot release troops out i released whatever was home.

do we tag fairplay yet or what?

i think the real question here should be - if i have no real money to pay for the game, can i use this 'smart' strategy? im personally a poor guy, does it mean i cant use these 'clever' use of mechanics?

Why are you trying to pretend these are two separate cases? Last age BoB vs Rusty war saw players aid out and reset their provinces and then aid back into those provs in prot to come oop in war 24h later to be stronger. You're trying to make it out like they never used the reset mechanic, but both sides most definitely did.

Anyway, thank you for clarifying that your opinion has changed on this subject from last age to this one.

Godly is quoting me on an entirely different scenario than what occurred here, so yes - they are two separate cases. What happened last age is no longer relevant anyway.

Some people abused reset function to get a leg up, were caught, and got punished. Be thankful at least you didn't get banned and you can stay together as a kingdom. In the past in Utopia, people haven't been so lucky. Imo it's commendable leniency by GMs, and reassuring that someone is watching loophole abuse.

Can't see why you are then also coming onto forums and *****ing like a twelve year old AOL dial-up noob, maybe risking further punishment. If you are such a good player, revise your strategy and get better.

So when do we all Tag "Fair Play" and hit into CR's War?

They enjoy restarting provinces so I suggest we start with the largest first!

As an admin, I am sure it is frustrating to have players constantly bothering or attacking you for things you did, didn't, or should have done in their eyes.
As a player, it is frustrating to have such large discrepancies from one age to the next. How were CR/RBL to know that what happened last age was no longer acceptable this age?

We made a mechanic change to stop it (mechanic changes are usually preferable to punitive action). I've already stated that this wasn't enough though. You'd want to have a pretty selective view to judge that this action could be considered legitimate and according to IRC people in the kingdom knew it wasn't.

You warred Rage last age with zero chances to win. How is that any different from the "fun war" we had against HoH? If we shaped charts you did just as much :)

Just to clarify; we had no EOA Nap with HoH that age. I'm not sure where that's coming from.. I played with a bunch of Havoc's players yet I have no EOA Nap with them either. We had a cease fire with HoH (which ended somewhere in the YR7-8 area iirc) with a notice. And nobody wanted to give us notice. HoH at some point gave that notice and we took them to war. We were bored and convinced we could make a dent into their provs with NM waves. Our strategy partially failed as a result of having moderate successrate on NMs and moderate results. Did we farm out? Hell no. We just lost. Had we dragged the war, we would've lost more acres.
Would we have warred Rage had they noticed? Probably not, because our relations weren't exactly good. Some kingdoms are on good terms, others neutral and some are on bad terms.

The age we won, we had a war against Mercy as the 4th war. It was close to end of age when it happened. Sanctuary actually became the runner-ups and despite us having beat them OOP, they would have a small chance to pass us. A chance they would have if Mercy would have dragged the war ahead. Showing their sportsmanship, Mercy withdrew from the war letting us have the win we deserved.

Well that may be true Bishop. But as per Godly, they thought you were stupid and would not do anything about it. Therefore it is unfair of you to upset their expectations and be other than stupid.

I don't think it was to dimish or stop cowing, but to diminish/stop practices that made cowing too easy by abusing gaps in the explore system.
