I'm back in the country; albeit not yet home.
I have no intention of bailing on skysail, and will have a post up once I'm situated. I don't like to percieve threads as something I can pick up and cast aside easily. I'm too invested in the story and the characters. If we simply abandon this world after so much thought and development, I know I for one won't be ready to jump in to a new creation. If Ren and Shari are still posting, you can count on me to help drive the story.

I'm not ready to give up on Skysail just yet, it is an awesome story (even if I'm not loving my twins that much)... I'll try to get something up tonight or tomorrow...
added: it's still a bit hectic in my life atm, but I'm trying to find some peace and energy to write... miss it...
-
I haven't given up on it. I will say I didn't expect the drop off of posting just because Phoenix took a vacation, though. For me, roleplaying is only really fun when everyone is participating. When it's just me and one other person, it doesn't really feel as much like roleplaying; makes it more difficult to get into the mood, I suppose you could say. I have been meaning to get a reply up to Ren's post, however, and I'll work on that now.

i'm still here.
it doesn't matter for me to write with one or several people. Obviously, the more the merrier. But motivation on writing is no big. It's the consistent writing quality that I struggle with.

Hey, I'm still alive too.
Had the same problem as Kain, my link was all of a sudden leading to a dead end, and I had been using it for so long I had a hard time finding Utopia again. Then when I did, I couldn't find this forum on there...
Anyway, I've been following along on Google Wave and trying to keep up here but I just am finding it too hard to stay motivated. Partly because life is stressed (still haven't found a job after getting laid off) and partly because everytime I seem to log in I have to play catch up which gets frusterating, so I just skip ahead to the present which means there are huge holes of time that haven't been filled in leading to unfullfilled and "cardboard" feel character. Also I am not very happy with the way Aram turned out. I may bow out of Skysail for a bit. Do with Aram what you will, but even if things settle down into a much desired consistency on the home front and I choose to reinvest in skysail, it wouldn't be with Aram.
Either way, I'll never leave Utopia. I'll always be around, sniffing through threads and posting in the message boards. Hopefully soon I can dive back into RPing, just not at the moment...

Just a note for reference: Google search for Utopia Jolt Forums
The first search item will give you the forum and subcategories, so you can navigate with one click to the RP section.
-
Yeah that's pretty much how I found it after I noticed the link didn't work for a couple days. Originally I thought Jolt was just down for maintenance then I panicked and thought the dreaded day of them closing the forums had come, then I immediately realized that was a silly reaction and did the smart thing and searched XD
I'll always be here, too, so yeah
And Google Wave me! southwestninja gmail com

so any news of the plans for the utopia game and forums?
Seems like Utopia Kingdoms is a sequel of the Utopia we all know.. does that mean that Utopia will be "retired"?
-
nice post in IC sohee :)
I played Utopia kingdoms for about a month. its severely lacking and quite borish

Considering the game (the coding) is being kept alive through a pair of volunteers and some (a single?) moderators, we'll have to see how much life is left in it. There is no advertising, the community is dwindling, and Jolt doesn't support the game. The general consensus is that the company is hanging onto the code to keep it going public for someone else to make a profit. If for some reason people start returning to the game, they purge the cheaters, etc etc... we'll see it around for awhile.
I'd estimate we have some time left.
-
There hasn't even been a front page to the game in months. maybe since jolt took it over. Why did jolt spend all that money buying it from mehul, just to have it go kerplunk by two mediocre coders? I think Mehul should buy it back for less than he sold it. :\ It only grew when he had it.

http://utopia-game.com/
It is there, it just isn't advertised. The community is at something like 7k players (fewer?). Back when I played it was 80-100k.
-
Would anything really change even if it was advertised? The heyday of browser-based webgames is long over.
If it was up to me to make it profitable again, I'd try thinking of some way to make the game playable from inside Facebook.

turning the page into a wiki is ****. that's an insult to the game. That's not a front page, that's a signup sheet and nothing else. retarded. no wonder no one plays.
facebook play would be the best way to make it popular again, sure.
