I'm still collecting scientists, need about 6000 acres and 4 steps in honor. There's never enough time.
Ages lasting much longer than 14 weeks, just makes sure interest in the game drops. The way kds interact changes towards end of age. We're now being razed for 10 straight days by one of the top 5 kds, and just keep doing some FGs in return. Early in the age, they would have had their goals and we would have had ours and a solution to this conflict would have been found. Now, when it's supposed to be end of age but EoA is still some weeks away, this conflict just goes on because neither side has any goals left. There's nothing that makes interest drop more than playing without goals.
Well going back to last years changes posted it was sometime after thanksgiving weekend. They are most likely splitting thanksgiving and christmas up. Mainly so they dont have to work through 2 holidays with bugs.
It isn't really the actual length of the age that is a big problem, it is the inconsistency in age length's. If we know at least somewhat in advance that "this age will end around YR18 or YR17 or YR16, then kingdoms can plan their pumps and war aspirations on that. If it is 14 weeks one age, then 16 weeks the next, people aren't likely to prepare for a legit conflict after the 14'th week, so that is the problem.
I think the game is moving away from making it easy for top Kingdoms to plan thier pumps hence no need to give exact dates regarding EoA.
I like to think they are taking time tweaking bigger game/mechanic changes which are harder to implement then changing 10% to 8%.
