"vendetta" has horrible social/cultural connotations. Not only was "V for Vendetta" one of the most basic, simpleton and ****** movies ever made (for many, many reasons), "vendetta" also stands for an irrantional or at least extended sense of revenge, or "grudge", which is very antisocial.
