God bless America,Leaders of the free world!
the whole world sucks right now
people hate america because it is the world's hoss.
no matter what america (as a country) does, someone will hate america because you can never make everyone happy.
Is there a point to this thread?
America is just a chunk of dirt.
It i neither good nor bad.
If there is an issue with the ppl, policies, products....
Then there might be something to debate.
Please engage your brain before posting.
Thank you.
Well, I was mad at the US when I read some of the stuff they did throughout their history (most recently, the Iraq mess).
Then again, I was mad at a lot of people as I read various parts of the history of the world (including my own ancestry for wiping off the natives in such a large scale that it makes the holocaust pale in comparison).
I certainly don't agree with some of the stuff happening inside the US, but then again, I don't live there so as long as it makes them happy and they don't preach it to me, I don't really care.
Different place, different values. Its to be expected.
yawn.
was this meant to start discussion? or just to raise your troll count?
America ftw!
Its easy to find fault.
Its much harder to find acceptence within yourself.
I don't think America sucks.
Again, there was a large Bash-America outburst in the bugs forum, or the Suggestion forum, or some inappropriate forum, so I made this to redirect their opinions to an appropriate place.
lol
Duh, the US has much more visibility than most country (not only because of their military/economic power, but also because of all the cultural exportation they have been doing with the Hollywood machine and whatnot) so you'd expect every mistake they make to get examined under a microscope.
Think of it as the country version of being a celebrity.
Frankly, I find the US interesting (and to a lesser extent, the western world), but overtalked.
Thats why I took history of China for my last elective at university. I needed to get another (non western) perspective.
Yeah, what raiman said.
:8
*shakes head* Think you can be alil more in depth with your hatred of my country and my countrymen?
I argree that American in its current state sucks like you wouldn't beleive! I deal with it every day. Where I live finding work when you are out of a job was hard enough. And after 8 yrs of George Bush JR, its like hell here now. The only thing that I have to live is government funded inniutives that was set up coming out of the GREAT DEPRESION.
The fact that the rest of the world forgets or ignores is in America we don't always support our leaders. I hated the way our country was ran the last 8 yrs. Thats largely becuase I'm a Democrat. But also is because I believe that those that make more should do more for those that make them rich.
Although I'm accussed of being a socialist thats all just rederic from the right. I do think that if a government is going to tax its people it should provide servises to the people. Unfortunitly the last 8 yrs my government has cut taxes on those of us making outragous sums of money. They got involved in to very imperialistic wars and have been making a fool of the lot of us on the world stage! All the while they accussed those of us that protest their actions of being unpatriotic or socialistic. I've looked into socialism and I have to say as a poor man in the quote "wealthiest nation in the world". Socialism doesn't seem all that disagreable.
We are not all wealthy here, we are NOT all doctors and lawyers and scientist and polatitions. Most of us are average well meaning indivials who only have a minor say in who we elect to govern us. I at one time had a life. A job, I was a machinist. And for a moment in my adult life I was happy. As Bush was in office I watch the slow decline in the quality of my life, by forces beyond my control. I reserve the right to complain becuase I vote!
Despite all of that I still have an unwavering love for my country and ideals it was founded. I just hate the things our government has done in our name. The things my country has done through out history is terrable, but on an indivial level there really is no reason to hate or fear us.
So please show a little cooth when talking about things that you don't or can't understand.
BTW- I'm not going to appolagise for the actions of my fore farthers. I don't think any-one should have to appalogise for something they never did. The civilized world is living with this crisius together.
TY, rainman except it seems like you was calling me dirt. I'm sure you was talking about the country as a whole.
America.... **** yea!
Couth:
–adjective
1. showing or having good manners or sophistication; smooth: Sending her flowers would be a very couth thing to do.
–noun
2. good manners; refinement: to be lacking in couth.
Good sir, I believe you have misspelled. That is a very unsophisticated thing to do.
I was not sure about the spelling of that word. Usually I'd run my post through a spell check but I'm currently relegated to using the library. The meaning is more important than the word...just cause I speak English doesn't mean that I'm always grammatically correct. I post like I speak.
Thanks for correcting me, I'll try to remember the right spelling.
I'm abit uncouthed must be becuase I'm an American! :P

I didn't me all of us are as grammatically adverse as I am. The "couth" comment is directed at the ignorant posters with no reasonable hatred of our country. Some people you just can't get through to, or maybe they have a reason and are just not articulate enough to justify it.
nvm
Smitty, did you even read the thread?
The topic sucks, but the guy straight up admits he's trolling. Come on, don't take it seriously.
And ol'Allan, I'm messing with you dude. I'm no grammar nazi.
I never got the phrase grammar Nazi, Nazi itself is a colloquial phrase, shortened from National Socialist... seems an ironic phrase if you ask me.
And yes America has a Separation of Powers: Legislature/Congress, Executive/EXOP, Judiciary/Supreme Court. Plus because of Federalism that system is repeated from the topdown... and yet many of these "rigid constitutionalists" on the right fail to see that the American constitution itself was progressive for its time.
Are you socially inept or just trying to make yourself look more intelligent than you are?
Really, it's simple. Nazis are associated by most people with fascism, WWII, government control, and Adolf Hitler. A grammar Nazi is someone who tries to control the way others speak because it's "the proper way".
On topic: I can't believe this thread survived it's first page.
Yes, but the thing is there is no "proper way", yes there is standard and non-standard English, but rules of English in both spoken and written word are broken all the time.
For instance, there is a colloquial phrase here in Britain for something seen as "not good" called "bag of wank", thus placing a verb in the place of a noun, quite ridiculous really.
And no I'm not socially inept, and no I do not have to appear intelligent, I know I am.
If you can't appreciate sarcasm, I find it quite ironic you'd be so critical lol.
It does seem sucky, but then again since when has something sucky stopped it being "popular"?
Ok, so with your intelligence you've realized that the best way to make your thoughts understood is to express them simply and clearly, right? Are you concerned with being intelligent or convincing others that you are? Oh, wait... let me rephrase that.
When describing thoughts on a social matter, indeed any matter conceivable you should endeavor to keep your position clear and concise. The express simplicity of your position is of indescribable importance, lest the overcomplexity of the said statement overcome those whose minds are not organized in the same manner as your own. This realization is a true measure of an individual's mental capacity and the thought is often incomprehensible to those overtly concerned with their intellectual appearance in the eyes and ears of others.
Is that better?
@palem:
Pardon me if I'm mistaken, but that implies trolling. You're trying to draw attention and flames.
Not quite no. Trolling implies that you are trying to ignite posting by saying/doing something that you know is going to rile people up.
I had no intention of starting a discussion because the bashing was already started. My goal was to have it be put in a more appropriate forum.
That my friend is a very fine line. You do realize that by creating a new thread you added to the flaming and indignation?
That's debatable. Once I made the thread, the bashing in the incorrect thread came to a halting stop.
I don't hate the United States of America, in fact I love the country. I have family and friends who live there. Just because it has people in it like Palem, doesn't mean that every U.S. citizen is bad. I know that people like him do not represent the majority.
What's so bad about me?
**** off you trolling piece of ****.
Nothing wrong with America. The only thing that can be complained about also counts for other countries: Politicians. And bankers, the greedy no good scumbags.
But sore loser Americans on the Xbox do suck :P
