Do people here think that the peoples of Earth could be unified?

Can the seperate countries, governments and cultures of Earth ever form into one 'team'? Shall we ever have an Earth Flag? Shall we ever just call ourselves Earthlings instead of Chinese, Arabian, Mexican etc?

What would it take to acheive this do you think? Is it even possible? If so, how probable is it?

If countries are able to be run by governments, with one leader at a time, would it not also work for the world as a whole?

Can the Earth and Human society ever unify? Would the world be able to operate in this manner? Why? Why not?

Races will mix further till there's just one gen pool. Cultures and economies will blend. Borders become irrelevant.
I hope we'll still have unique cultures with some sort of representatives though, if it happens.
I don't like too much uniformity. I think that hurts creativity.

So you think a unified humanity is inevitable? I hope so.

In x thousand years, Earth will be as one against all the aliens, unless we've exterminated ourselves. It's the way of it all, it's inevitable.

People are ignorant. If they want to hate on people (and they do), they'll find something to discriminate for. Hair color, Eye color, hobbies, ect.

That said, I don't really care much for boarders or governments or whatever changing. If everyone could just get along and except pointless differences, that would be ideal.

I feel racism is the main cause of the hindrance of unity. We still need to have a more mature mind to be able to get a one world govt!!

Indeed it was such a 'major thing' to have an American President whose skin is of a dark shade ... humanity has a looooong way to go before we can ever be as one.

That is bound never to happen, part of beeing unified means you have a common history, a common culture and define yourself as part of a group.
Sadly it is easier to define oneself against someone else than defining oneself as a part of a positive unity, hence for this to happen there need always to be someone you can define yourself against.

Constructions such as the modern countries Germany, and Italy, formed from tiny city states might be stable unifications because they apply to those conditions, constructions such as the European Union have no such legitimacy and are ultimatively bound to blow themself to pieces just like their predesessors the Roman Empire, the Soviet union and any other historical empire, it is just a matter of when and how.

Humans have a common history and culture - Homo sapiens sapiens.

I understand what you are saying though.

I like to think that it is possible, although it seems unlikely.

And yet we are genetically pre-dispositined to seek out partners that will provide new genes.

I like to think that eventually the human species shall unify and see that we are all on the same team, although i have my doubts that it shall ever come to be

we will destroy our selves and cause an apocalypse well before we somehow some day intergrate or what ever.the blending of races and governments will not happen. for it to happen technology will grow giving the means to some nut job to pull the trigger on a world changing event.

What will likely result is that there will be a dissolution of formal national governments, and an official supreme world government established, but it will be established in opposition to the "threat" of an angry, uneducated mob who are shut out of any meaningful role. If it went the other way around, I would be surprised, but even that is more plausible than humanity uniting because of a common heritage, when considering that most of the world's leaders are more interested in keeping their own people under control than waging war for territory or survival.

From the day mankind first soared into the heavens to look upon the whole of the Earth in a single glance, we should have realized that this little piece of stellar driftwood is far too small to be spending so much time and effort fighting over.

Get rid of religion & the blue eyed scum and it might work ...... Unless the greenies get upity ........ Might have to get rid of them as well just to be safe

Perhaps if a huge portion of the population dies our post apocalyptic society's will band together to survive. Then once survival is insured we can get right back to battling for power amongst ourselves :D

You might get unity if you decentralize most powers.

People in different regions will hold different viewpoints, because of geography alone if nothing else.

In Canada for example, the province of Alberta is the most right-wing province while Quebec is the most left-wing.

We hold such differing viewpoints that I think the only way to keep both province satisfied is to decentralize most powers from the federal to the provincial.

I think the most important thing is not to have 1 government, it's to have enough prosperity that nobody will feel a strong need to fight for resources.

That and harmonize religious beliefs so that there is less inter-religion bigotry.

Personally, I find philosophy to be a good substitute for religion (I can't dedicate my life to a god, but I can dedicate my life to ideals such as fairness), but it's not for everyone and we need to figure out something for everyone.

This is pretty spot-on. People around the World have been indoctrinated so heavily that unchecked technological progression is now an accepted way of life. It's this attitude that has eliminated most humans from the labor equation at a time of exponential population growth. People were led to believe that machines and technology would make life easier, and to a point it does.. if you're wealthy enough to stay at the top of the sinking boat. The media played a large part in leading people away from virtue and straight to vice and consequently mass-debt. The whole World is being made a debt-slave and most of the people are OK with it because they are way too distracted with celebrities, sports, fashion, materialism, etc. They concern themselves with things that don't matter at all, wonder why their lives become increasingly complicated without doing any critical thinking, start to cry and then go back to watching American Idol. Most people are completely devoid of morals, values, love and compassion. Couple this with globalization's displacement of ethnic bases and you have a sort of controlled chaos. Divide and conquer is the name of the game. So many different people in so many areas mean nobody really cares about the country they're now living in because it's not their country.. they're there to make money.

Eventually, people will be so destitute that they'll begin resisting, rioting, rebelling and most likely be deemed 'terrorists' that need to be put down. Thing is, the whole World is in a designed debt crisis to speed up the process and make a uniform transition. The global elitist system is meant to squeeze and squeeze and never let up. People think technology is their friend and never question what ulterior motives are tied to all of this technological progression and what the consequences of those motives will be.

Globalization is essentially global domination under the guise of tolerance and unity. More can be accomplished by deceiving the people into slavery than by forcing them with an iron-fist. The media distractions keep people in a state of blissful ignorance while the cage builds and suffocates those around them... The outlook is bleak yet hope remains. The elite are punch-drunk with hubris and up to their ears in vanity, and what's more is that they're proud of it. Pride comes before the fall. Thing is, hopefully that fall doesn't snuff out the entire World with a nuclear holocaust... Hope remains.

I believe religion over race will be the most dividing factor, I don't know about other areas, but in the midwest racism is slowly dying down with different generations. You always have haters though.

We need to eradicate the concept of money if we're gona start me thinks.

For those who know what the Zeitgeist movement is about, you know what i'm talking about.

Competition of limited resources... Until that problem is solved I don't see one big happy family forming anytime soon.

The CIA Fact Book has an interesting take on this. It says National governments are losing power to international organizations such as the European Union but also to more regional movements such as in the collapse of the old USSR.

Start with getting rid of religion. Then get rid of the inheritance system. Then make it so that the people in charge are the people most capable of seeing to their people's needs.

Then after some time people will get along peacefully (kinda like Startrek)

Holy ****, earth 2025 was fun. I made it to the A game on the tournement a few times. Really unique game. I only play this now b.c earth is dead and gone; replaced by a sham where they let you multi. So the game has become who is king of the cheaters? Isntead of who is a smart warlord and knows how to use missiles.

Many of the responses to this forum topic have been people who actually believe that a One World government is a good thing. This is a massive fallacy. Every Nation State must maintain its independence or all will fall. The process of destruction by unification has begun. The Nations (States) in the U.S.A. became trapped over 200 years ago. Some saw the evil and tried to get out but it is like the Mafia: The only way out is to die. The Civil War ended with nearly a Million Americans dead and the Southern Nations enslaved by the U.S.A. Of course the lie that it was about slavery was used to justify all of this death. But the real reason is of course Greed and Lust for Power. And it has only begun. The people of Europe are starting to learn that the E.U. is Europes version of the U.S.A. and the separate Nations are losing their soveriegnty and distinctive cultures. And this whole idea that a racial blending will result in everyone holding hands and singing Kumbaya is very very ignorant. Humans are inherently designed to compete. You cannot remove this nature of man even in this very thread, those who believe it can be done are competing with others over the issue. And one day you will support a war in order to get other nations to follow this belief you have. You just need the right trigger: religious differences, Right versus Left, Slavery, OMG they have Nukes, genocides, ..... whatever. You will support violence under some circumstance. it is possible but unlikely. several variables would have to occur. first would be the collapse of organized religion. there is far too much history and far too many contradicting beliefs that all organized religions have for them to ever exist in harmony. the idea of god having a chosen people is sickening and laughable. down with all religion, up with science.

next is race. maybe someday in the future races will become irrelevant thanks to such a widespread adaptation of globalization. racist people would have to become such a small minority that they were virtually nonexistent. expecting people to give up their ridiculous prejudices and ignorance is a pretty far out concept. people are inherently stupid and suspicious/afraid of people different than them.

aliens or the eventual evolution of another species to recognizable sentience. humanity will not ever truly be able to unite as one until they have a common threat to their existence/dominance over our small silly rock floating here in space. without some type of alien or creature to kill we will keep killing each other until there is no one left. which in my opinion is the best thing for this planet.

in my opinion humanity is merely a parasite. parasites selfishly consume and grow until they kill their host. we keep consuming and destroying the planet with no forethought to the future or long term ramification of our actions. earth is our host. god help the universe if we ever break out of this cosmological quarantine and find a way to spread and infect other 'hosts.' it will be the galactic version of the bubonic plague. we will destroy everything and then ourselves. if we cant pull our heads out of our a$$es and turn our relationship into a symbiotic relationship with earth, both us and our planet is eventually screwed.
