So i am coming to the end of phasing into attacker
and i notice there is no crystal ball spell
and i have to som
but the som is not accurate !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Luvfiwaegbvfabenvb !!!!!!!!
How accurate is the som, and how many thieves do i have to send to get an accurate som????????
And p.s. Do mercenaries ride horses?????

however, if not:
to get accurate military to send on hits you need to take a spy on throne (thief op) with 20% + 1 of your thieves. copy it so angel pops up a window showing the troops. Then you must get a spy on military. Use 10 thieves for this. SOM shows troops out with perfect accuracy. Subtract all troops that are out on attacks as shown in the SOM from the numbers in angel. This will give you defence home with 3% innacuracy. Coupled with the games random factor you will need to send 1.073 times the final defence angel shows.
eg: undead/cleric has 5k d specs 3k elites (aswell as 5k o specs and 8k horses but these dont count towards defence so can be ignored)
he attacks and you take a som showing 1408 leets and 160 soldiers are out (the only troops providing defence) these are subtracted from the sot:
Lets say angel makes this 24,200 defence - you must send 24,200*1.073=25,977 offense on the war page to break this with 100% certainty
on the other questions... mercs can not ride horses but solds can

but 20% of what? his acreage? or..?
SoM is totally, 100% accurate, doesn't it also show a total at home defense score..? (so why do I need SoT at all..?)

To get almost precise (3% error) SoM or SoT, you need to send 20% of your thieves.
SoM has troops out exact no matter how many troops you send
You have two choices:
1) you get a 20% SoM and oversend by 7% (3% error, 4% randomness)
2) you get a 20% SoT and a 1 thief SoM and you substract the number of elites to get defense
If you wanna work with option2, you can use angel as described above, but you can also create an excel sheet (takes 5 mins) or just calculate it without any tools. The way it is done is simple, you figure out the defensive military effectiveness from the SoT numbers, then substract the ElitesOut*EliteDefense*DefensiveME from the SoT defense at home. Then add 7%.
Soldiers can ride horses, mercs can't. 20%+1 is what I've heard for SoM/SoT to have a 5%+- accuracy. Tacticians have 100% accuracy in war time even if you send 1 thief (assuming you do get the intel though).
Also to elaborate, the 20% is of your own maximum amount of thieves. Your TPA is taken into account with the probability of your op succeeding, has nothing to do with accuracy.

Always keep in mind that the numbers displayed by these operations are not accurate and can be out by up to 25%! Nevertheless, sending more thieves when conducting the operation will highly increase the reports accuracy - up to a max 3% inaccuracy
Troops out on a som is 100% accurate for whatever reason... So you can use that information combined with a sot to get easier intel. (SOT is much easier op then SoM) So I would recommend doing a 20% thief sot, and then a 10 theif som. Adjust troops out using Troops from sot - troops out from som.
Oversend 7% on hits to take into account ~4% random ME factor and 3% Intel random factor.

If I want to calc manually, which number should I take into calculation & what is the formula? Do I need to take the Net def home * ME * 7% randomness? Or I take ModDefense calculated * 7% randomness? Or Net def home * 7% randomness? Do ME really need to take into calc?
You should start by uninstalling utopia angel.
Net Defense at Home (from Utopia): 58,927 <--- that's what you saw on the page. But it may be 25% off if you didn't take the SoM with 20% of your thieves. If you used at least 20% of your thieves, 64k should break. If not, his defense should be between 44k and 74k. In that case, 78k is still a sure break.
