How Much is UTOPIA Worth?

Hi all,

Does anyone know the monetary value of Utopia? Literally, how much it would cost for someone to actually purchase the game from the current owners (OMAC, if I'm correct?).

I would appreciate an answer from someone with actual knowledge on the matter or if not that, an educated guess.

P.S. The matter is partially to satisfy my curiosity, but I do have more than a few webpreneur friends. :D

EDIT: Okay, sorry. I mixed the sequence of events. I though Jolt was purchased by OMAC. Well, who owns the game now?
EDIT2: Yes, I was correct. OMAC did buy Jolt. (According to my best friend wikipedia, of course). Also, I'd rather not bother the owners before having at least some idea from those well acquainted with the game.

btw, OMAC was purchased by Jolt Online Gaming, which was purchased by Gamestop, and then dissolved.

Go ask Sean and Briand and whoever the 3rd dude is (wasnt there a 3rd dude?).

I doubt any players have an idea, you'd need to contact the devs.

google utopia-game.com value, multiple sights will come up with different estimates of what the sight is worth the highest estimates seem to be around 100k and the lowest around 40k with a projected ad revenues of between 18-35k depending on who you ask, generated by 8300-8800 individual users.

No site estimate will have data on player spend though. Those estimate are for the domain alone.

It's worth what someone will pay for it. I would pay $5 dollars for the site, therefore it is worth $5 to me.

That's a terrible definition. Worth is not a personal definition. Things have value beyond one person's opinion.

I don't care for diamonds. I wouldn't pay a lot to have some. That doesn't mean they aren't worth a lot of money.

worth is the highest value the market will bear, polar bear... :O

Hes not a dev afaik just a mod. Sean and bryan being the devs. If a site saud it makea 20k a year in advertising is is worth about 40k. But I suspect it also makes 10k a year or so selling credits. Then who knowd what its expenses are for hosting and changes. But 60-80k value wouod make sense to me..

If only the domain was Utopia.com... There was a program in the UK on channel 4 called Utopia so when people searched for the program we could of got some nice free advertisement! As it stands typing utopia in google we are not even on page 1!

We are the 3rd listing when I simply google "Utopia", after 2 wikipedia entries about the word and meaning of Utopia. I think that's pretty good to only be behind wikipedia lol.

Still forth for me using a new browser client

At home when I type it its 4th.
Now I'm at work and its on the 4th page. (I do access utopia at work)

I don't play Utopia at work, still comes up 3rd for me.

Utopia is 3rd here, behind Wikipedia and IMBD.
And I spend stupid amounts of time on both utopia-game.com and utopiaforums.com.

Does utopia do any sort of advertising? I havent seen any, but i might not be the targeted demographic.

Not that I'm aware. Advertising costs money.
