How about having two types of elites, one from race and another from personality?
So for eg. you get Beastmaster for choosing faery but you have, say, Assassin elite for choosing rogue personality.

I see this being incredibly difficult, if not impossible to both code and balance. So you could go Faery and have their 3/9 Elite, then pick warrior, which might have an 8/2 elite (for example) that would make faery capable of some serious hybrid stuff.
It's not a poor idea, it would just be impossible to balance.
would probably be overpowered
Doesn't have to be a separate elite. Race could give you a base elite, and every personality could have an effect on that elite.
Faery could give say 3/7 beastmaster
Rogue would give elite +1 defense, and count as a thief for defensive tpa purposes. Adds "Sneaky" to elite name. so Fae/Ro would have a 3/8 Sneaky Beastmaster
Warrior would give elite +1 offense and a 100% elite army will kill 10% more enemies. Adds "Bloodthirsty" to elite name. So Fae/Wa would have a 4/7 Bloodthirsty Beastmaster.
Etc etc
mjiedema's idea is better.
Interesting...
Concur
How about just make elites paired with personalities and not races. So warrior 9/3 for example, orc gets the +1 or +2 modifier. Basically same as jmiedema said just flip it.
