Pointless Party conventions?

I'm tempted to agree. They seem to me to simply be a marketting/campaigning exercise. I think there should be more unscripted stuff and the national debate should be unscripted (no knowing the questions in advance).

Just my thoughts.

The conventions can be a little dull, especially if the VPs have already been announced.

I usually enjoy the debates however.
