I was wondering what was the consensus of monarchs in what chat platform they are using in the current age of Utopia?
I would assume now that Utopia has an official Discord server...KDs are flocking to be based in discord due to the amount of people already registered. However I know people may still use Slack or Telegram to take advantages of umunks capabilities.
For people who are building kingdoms...what is the best platform for a 3rd party chat?
whatsapp.....all the euros have it on their phone. while slack/discord is still widly used i've yet to drive my kd away from the innate friendliness that is whatsapp.
There is only one answer and that's IRC!

We were using discord long before the game switched to it. Alot of the younger people use it in other games so they already know how to use it
tbh, most things are irc just recoded/skinned to their own platform.

InGame chat is second choice, (being everyone has access to it)

commune kingdoms only worked before ip interaction was blocked.
have don't msn, fb chat ingame chat with success, tried slack that was not my thing and recently got on discord which seems to work fine also, don't like the bot intergration though but probably good for people who are playing from a phone. I either are on my pc and thus know full well when army is in, or I could not make it at which point it is first priority getting to do my hit when I get on.
Oh yes we also kind of used these forums for a few discussions on strategy issues when I was running a shell, it just happened that we had 3 or 4 people replying to the same forum thread, so it was not planned at all.
I'm personly a big fan of the ingame chat, it does have its limitations but works well in ghettos and shells, and even more organized kingdoms can use it in a mix with other programs, the only downside is the ingame forum nearly died because of the chat, it is only the war forum and for recordkeeping purposes that it still has its merit.
Nobody mentioned skype :D? My kd used it until this age(and we were joking probably we are the only KD in uto who actually seriously use it) when we had to move to discord since too many players are using it and we started having problems with the recruit.
We also use whatsapp but personally I dislike it(my phone has low resolution).
I like to use pen and paper. Nothing like developing RL pen pal relationships through Utopia!
Discord is a hit or miss out of most platforms being Discord is very common to get blocked at work.
While skype, ingame, mIRC, slack, Facebook are things that rarely get blocked (facebook, slack) or is impossible to get blocked (like Skype and mIRC).
While in game if your blocked, your going to have problems logging into game yet alone doing the chat =P
