Proposed changes.
Copied and pasted before the n00b swarm makes it vanish in a sea of pro-T/M ranting.
"I see massive issues with these.
Human's boring.
Elf is too powerful - it has no drawbacks, and only major bonuses.
Halfling's better than old gnome and halfling. About time.
Dwarf's not immune to fog anymore, so you don't need another dwarf to beat down dwarves. The -1 general's excessive.
The new orc sucks.
Undead's always gonna be bad.
Faery is boring and bad.
Avian is what it's always been. Ambush immunity shouldn't exist.
Make humans consume more runes, move the WPA-penalty to halfling, shift the +1 defensive dude from elf back to human, give elf a thievery penalty/increased science cost, dump the -1 general on dwarf, immune to ambush, and give avian a birthrate penalty.
Faery needs a lot of work. "
In addition:
faery should not, in a million years, get tree of gold or fog. All spells on a def-7 race is dumb.
Pass tree of gold to human or undead.
Actually, swap around the spells in general. It gets boring to see the same spells on the same race forever.
-
Agree with rune penalty instead of magic penalty for human
Do halfers really need another penalty besides a meh army with no hospitals?
Orcs aren't bad imo. Just need a different setup.
Agree that dwarfs need to lose penalty to generals
Imposing science cost, thievery and no +1 def spec is overnerfing elf. Choose one penalty not 3.
Undead will only be bad if their conversion rate is awful and only on land gain attacks.
Avians are defined by their immunity to ambush. Taking that away is like making an orc defensive. The penalty isn't that bad but I think its unnecesary.
what's boring for a person is just opinion so your comment on faeries is somewhat unnecesary.
Who else thinks VT2 plays human...
-
Undead are bad no matter what the conversion rate is.
-
I never said elf should get all three - just that it needs the +1 def removed, and a real penalty, period.
"Oh my god! No dungeons! I'm gonna diiiiiiie!"
Yes, halfers need a penalty to go with their power. All races should have one.
I play gnome or dwarf, for the record.
-
Lol I agree that no dungeons is a small price to pay for the army it has but lately this age I've been using more and more. Its pretty helpful. Elves are generally good at sciences but increasing cost is interesting and may be fair. No thief penalty though. Enough races have that.
Halfers don't really have power. They are going to play almost like I'm playing with my gnome now.
-
Why would you pick anything other than elf under the proposed changes?
You need penalties to go with massive advantages, or the advantages have to shrink.
-
Did humans have penalties this age?
They do need something though.
-
Move the super-specialist back to them, and make their spells consume more runes. Shift WPA-penalty to halfling.
There, now two races have proper bonuses and drawbacks.
-
human has decent magic, they have so much money for sciences, their penalty is nothing.
-
Yes, and then your peasants poof.
Now what?
I fail to see why people are so hard for bad races.
Given the choice of money plus money, or money plus spells and better army, I'm never gonna go with option one. It's not fun to play a gold farm.
-
and with higher rune cost (which is easy to overcome with science) it might even be viable to not run towers, and instead steal runes. where is the disadvantage?
You just gave them +20% def military eff, and you improved their magic.
-
i wouldn't play elf anything with your changes lol human a/t all the way, and there are a few awesome personalities for human to choose from.
-
What if you don't want to run forts, because you're more interested in thieves' dens?
Or should I pick rogue, so I can have 2x effective dens on my human base?
Man, then I could have, like, +40% defense! :o
-
I think we should all run elf with no hospitals.
The -20% losses mean you can easily get +5% defense.
Like how if you're halfling, you don't need thieves' dens, because you get +50% TPA base.
-
What if you play orc with no training grounds? They're strength-9 base, you know - easily 20% stronger than base elites.
You could run 20% more defense on your orcs! So broken, guys.
We gotta nerf all the races so people can't use buildings, ops, and spells to partially cancel out their natural drawbacks in a limited sense!
