if you get 2 SoM's and use a SoM calc
    here are 2 online ones
    here and here
or you can DL one here

and with that you can work out exact defense :)
it gets better at higher acres/defense, and occasionally you need 3, and have on rare moments seen 4, to give you exact defense

The latter requires 2 SoMs to calc the total defense if you don't have a CB taken at the same time. In either case, a survey is not required to obtain accurate defense at home.
i dont trust CB + SoM...

True. If you get one SoM, you know if the army is out. BUT! You dont know how much def theyve got at home from one SoM, since everything in the SoM is inaccurate (uless you pwn them extrodinary completely hard in thievery) by some +-40% i think. With two SoMs you can work out the exact amount of def at home.

Ah that is really new to me. Guess I have been out too long. You're right, I felt more comfortable using bonuses tab for calculation.

Let me put it in steps:
    1. Copy KD page
    2. Copy CB
    3. Copy SoM #1 (10 thieves?)
    4. Copy SoM #2 (10 thieves?)

I should have an accurate number in my Military Calculator using ME tab?

Wait. Do you mean if my MP (or GP) is expired; others will be able to tell simply by looking at my CB? Or my CB will always assumed me to have MP on?

The SOM has a % error that I think ranges as high as +5%, -15% and is based on the relative strength of your guilds. The +-40% was in reference to guild size not accuracy. I always get 2 SOM's and see how much they vary by, or if I've already infiltrated their guild and know I own them in theives (usually the case) I'll just use 1 SOM.

SOM randomness is much higher than +5% to -15%. I took a first SOM earlier today for a given defense at home around 105K. After formatting this with a second SOM, it turned out that the actual defense at home was close to 135K. That is pretty close to 30% randomness, which I think is the maximum randomness on SOM, on both sides.

I was in a war and for some reason a lot of people were failing attacks. Me what I was doing was to get the right numbers was using SoM+SoM and the numbers I got from that in the Cb+SoM. The numbers would come out dead on.

or you could ignore steps 1 & 2 and just use a SoM calculator ;)

lucky... ive seen numerous bounces from CB + SoM
aggression and TW can throw CB + SoM out quite easily!

your cb shows your total defense. if mp expires your defense on your cb will drop accordingly.

    Greenie I missundstood me. I don't use CB+SoM. I use
SoM+SoM=AvgSoM--->Cb+AvgSoM. Using this I always get dead on readings.

    AvgSoM? That does not exist.

SOM+SOM = Exact intel. No need to waste mana on an additional CB.

hahaha the SoM+SoM that angel has that gives the the AvgSoM you take the numbers you got from the SoM+SoM and put them to the Cb you got. You only need one Cb and two SoMs. I hope that clears up things.

I think Toadi will be using a SoM translator with those two SoM's and getting the exact def.

Don't try and be a 'know-it-all' when you don't know much, if anything.
