Numbers and strategies are only but a small fraction of what this game is about, yet it's funny to see that players are putting a lot of unnecessary negative emotions into those two aspects and make a big fuss.

Actually that is my point, like i said i saw it posted that...
therefor i was wanting clarification on where it was inacurate. If it is compleatly accurate. IE. you (the province hit) can be the only one to use ambush, and only do it once. that essentially answers my question, and that the person making the statement only (cant remember where i saw it) was only regarding newbs like myself underestimatine its tactical value.

Known bugs include: having townwatch active kills peasants for the person with it on, despite them not actually participating in the battle; having the +1 defensive specialist perk makes your OFFENSIVE specialists harder to ambush; hospitals may or may not be counted on ambush; mercenaries and prisoners sure do fight on ambush, but not at a strength of 3 apiece.

well, no mods to either race, which favors rates that have high units/unit strength and low modiferes.
exsample of a Orc:
he just attacked you with 8000 orcs (lets assume its around 1k acres)
to ambush him, you ll need:
raw: 8000 units x 2 def value = 16.000
mod: 16.000 raw x 0.8 = 12,800 offense need to break him
remember you dont get TG modifers/ ME whatever either.
lets say your a gnome.
2200 x 5 value + 2200 horses = 13,200
2200 horses elites should win a ambush against that same orc. (unless im doing something wrong)
Remember :
Attacker's prisoner/mercs fight at strength of 3. (Prisoners fight with a strength of 5 if halfling.)
Off specs fight at 5(6 if human)
Defender's elites fight with Defence strength;, attacker's elites fight as normal
Soldiers fight with 1(Agression does not increase it to 2)
Defender's horses fight with 0; attacker's horses fight with 1
You don't need to send more than 1 General

With respect to the +1 defspec, me and a mate tried it out on gen during this weird server downtime.
Human ospecs defend at 5*0.8, no longer 6*0.8 which they used to do once upon a time.
Otherwise yes mercs and prisoners fight (mod with ME, not at 3), If you have Townwatch on means more peasants killed if you get ambushed. Nvr heard of the hospital 'bug'.
