Britain Bans 16 for 'Fostering Extremism' Radio Host Savage

    http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn...050500827.html

Ok, I was in war and working and have not had the chance to say WTF Britain?

Are you kidding me,I'm an independent voter in the U.S and have listened to Michale Savage for over 10 years now on a daily or at least weekly basis.

I will post arguments to follow but in my own words let me say this.
Michale Savage is out spoken to say the least and he wears his emotions on his sleeve when an issue that he is for or against comes to light,he believes in a mantra of Borders Language and Culture ,and anything or anyone that stands against this mantra by breaking laws overriding the constitution and or the bill of rights he strongly and openly opposes.

To have Britain tie him in with terrorist, murderer's,and extremest is simply a political ploy by the British Labour Party to try to save their hides from the impending defeat they will suffer in the next election.

I expect this kind of shenanigan from the extreme left in Britain but what I don't understand is why the center and right in Britain have not marched down and thrown Jacqui Smith out of office as soon as this happened.

Cmon Brit's ,you single handily staved off world domination by the Nazi's for years until the U.S got into the fight to help....for what?

To have some leftist trash play political games with one of your strongest allies?

Please tell me your gonna get off your asses and do something about this, please tell me Great Britain has not been taken over by the fer left socialist who placate everyone just to prolong the inevitable...

You have Muslim clerics preaching for the destruction of the western civilization in the streets for God's sake.

Do you want your wives and daughters to be mutilated for their sins is not the christian world taught only God can punish us for our sins?

Stop appeasing these bastards and remove and ban them from your country before you loose it.

If they can force the political left of your country to go to this extreme it is only a matter of time before they force the hand of the center and all is lost for England.........God save the queen!

Not one time in 10 years have I heard Michale Savage incite hate and or call for the masses to kill someone this is defamation, plain and simple.
On a side note:I do not agree with everything Michale Savage says but I will dam well defend his right to say it until the day I die! The Muslim people in the great isle of Britain who now incite hate and promote the extermination of the western world are not banned from your country ,how in the world can a radio talk show host meet or exceed the criteria for this punishment?

People with the views of Savage, and apparently you as well, are a minority even in the US. If you went to Europe you would find yourself being an extremist. This is not some "leftist" plot.

I don't personally know much about exactly what Savage has expressed over the years, from what I can read on that home page it doesn't seem worth finding out either, but that's beside the point. From what I gather he's been making some very racist comments about muslims, among others. Considering that Britain has a muslim minority, which is already being alienated, it would make sense not to let this go even further by allowing some hate mongerer into the country. Oh and quite contrary to what you seem to think muslim preachers have been expelled for advocating extremism on the other side of the spectrum.

(FPM) Western media vigorously report on politically incorrect speech, except the type coming from Muslim leaders. Such outrageous speech is a daily diet on Arab TV. The following is a recent statement:

“The Jews are the Enemies of Muslims regardless of the occupation of Palestine; we will fight, defeat and annihilate them until not a single Jew remains on the face of the earth.” (January 2009, Egyptian cleric Muhammad Ya’qoub).

On February 1, 2009, prominent sheikh Yousef Al-Qaradhawi, on Al Jazeera TV, called the holocaust "divine punishment" for the Jews and encouraged Muslims to do same by saying: "Allah willing, the next time will be at the hand of the believers [i.e. Muslims]." He then added that he would "shoot Allah's enemies, the Jews."

In September 2008, Sheikh Nabil Al-'Awadhi, a Kuwaiti government-appointed preacher said that "Europeans are immoral, unclean and cowardly.” Egyptian Cleric Alaa Said said in January: “Jews spread wars, homosexuality and corruption in the world.”

Egyptian cleric Ahmad Abd Al-Salam accused Jews of “Infecting food with cancer and shipping it to Muslim countries.” Also in January, Egyptian cleric Zaghloul Al-Naggar called on “waging war against the Jews, who are devils in human form.” In 2001 I read in the front page of an Egyptian newspaper that Israeli Viagra is flooding Egyptian markets to sterilize Egyptian men.

Egyptian cleric, Hazem Shuman, recently said “We must teach our children to hate the Jews.” Even the Mumbai terror attack was blamed on Zionists by Pakistani security expert Zaid Hamid; the theme was that, of course, in addition to the 9/11 terror attack itself and the 2004 Tsunami being all done by the Jews, some Muslim leaders proclaimed. Muslim clerics do not find it at all unholy to express delight and exuberance when catastrophes hit the West, such as the destruction by hurricane Katrina or the current economic crisis. Last October, in a Friday sermon at the Tehran University, Iranian leader Ayatollah Ahmad Jannati, said that the U.S.'s economic crisis was "divine punishment" that had made Iranians very happy.” Across the Muslim world, non-Muslim Westerners are referred to as "wicked," "corrupt," "our clear enemies" and “the great Satan.”

Many Muslim journalists and professionals promote the same message. Egyptian female lawyer Nagla Al-Imam said on Arab TV last October: “Arab men should sexually harass Israeli women. Leave the land so we won’t rape you.” Egyptian intellectual, Galal Amin, said last February that “Israel was behind the attempted assassination of Naguib Mahfouz,” an Egyptian Nobel prize winning author, who was stabbed in Cairo by a radical Muslim. Syrian economist Muhammad Sharif Mazloum last October, said: “Jews assassinated President Kennedy and are also responsible for today’s world wide economic crisis.” Kuwaiti professor, Abdullah Al-Nafisi, on Al-Jazeera TV, suggests anthrax attacks on the White House and prays for the bombing of a nuclear plant on Lake Michigan.

For the Western mind, it is hard to even imagine going to a church or synagogue to hear preachers cursing, threatening and inciting violence and annihilation of whole groups of people. Because this does not make sense to Westerners, they immediately accept the claims that such preachers are just a fringe minority, an extreme sect or cult, such as Jim Jones. But that claim is dishonest, since hate propaganda is the rule and not the exception in Muslim preaching. It must go hand in hand with demands for conquering other people, otherwise jihad will end.

Hate rhetoric comes into Muslim homes in America via satellite dishes directly from the horse’s mouth in the Muslim world. Is it any wonder that in recent Muslim demonstrations in Florida, demonstrators were telling Jews to “go back to the ovens”?

We must never underestimate the power of hate propaganda, because, quite simply, it works. Believe it or not, if you grow up hearing ‘holy’ cursing day in and day out, it can feel and sound normal, justified and even good. Evil, especially coming from religious leaders, is powerful especially if no one opposes it. That is why I decided to end my subscription to satellite Arab TV, simply because I could not take it any more. I now rely on Memri.org for information on Arab media.

By not reporting on Islamic hate rhetoric, Western media is selectively normalizing hate speech for one particular group against another and developing a double standard that is detrimental to peace and democracy. The cancer of hate speech and anti-Semitism is already in Europe and on American college campuses. No one should be above criticism and exposure, especially those who issue Fatwas of death. Courage and honesty are needed in our media.

Who cares? I don't see a need to ban these people especially but I feel no loss by having them stay out. The only good argument I've seen against banning them is that if you hear these people speak you'll see how retarded they really are. The writer of the article I read gave some people proudly supporting Hamas as an example. Yes, the Israeli military is being ghey, but if these people had the chance to hear exactly what Hamas believes in they would not support them in quite the same way.

Savage lives in america where he has the right to say whatever he wants to say - and it is a sad day for uk that they have come to this - sure ban a terrorist - sure ban a murderer - even ban the minister who disrupts funerals - but if you dont like what savage says then dont listen - (oh wait he isnt broadcasted in uk) i find it quite ironic that the rest of the world has no problem with burning usa flag but now savage is horrible cuz he says burn mexican flag? and that was taken out of context - it came after thousands of mexicans that were IN america burnt the usa flag at protest rallies around the country.

Kain - you know i love ya - but i have to disagree with you on this....

Savage’s show is not even broadcast in Britain, but his name appears alongside mass murderers, Islamic butchers and white supremacists; Russian skinheads serving prison sentences for killing 20 migrant workers, a leader of Hamas, a known Hezbollah terrorist, a prominent neo-Nazi and a former Ku Klux Klan grand wizard. He has joined the list because he is a talk show host that voiced his opinions - which happen to be contrary to what Home Secretary Jacqui Smith believes.... She is wrong in lumping him with such people... Savage has never committed a violent act or crime. He has never called for violence or rationalized the use of force against innocent civilians.

Smith claims that Mr. Savage is a far right-winger, who peddles bigotry and intolerance. and presents a danger to public order. “This is someone who has fallen into the category of fomenting hatred, of such extreme views and expressing them in such a way that it is actually likely to cause inter-community tension or even violence if that person were allowed into the country,” (she said this in an interview http://www.thenational.ae/article/20...705059851/1013)

Using her criteria - there must be millions of Brits who would not qualify to enter their own country. (Not counting the Islamist clerics preaching the virtues of jihad and Sharia law that are taking over East London) They also have radio hosts who spout hate - how about that guy George Galloway, this guy is anti-Semitic and anti-Zionist and also regularly praises Hezbollah and Hamas. He defends Iran’s drive to acquire a nuclear bomb and publicly supports Bashir Assad. USA has never banned him from coming into our country - despite the harmful impact his hateful speeches may have on the Jewish community. Why doesn't Smith start in her own backyard first and crack down on those “fomenting hatred,” in her own country!! NO! she is some kind of hero to the Brits....

add to that it violates some international laws...
Article 10 of the European Convention on Human Rights clearly protects the right to "freedom of expression." Article 10 states that "this right shall include the freedom to hold opinions ... and ideas without interference by public authority and regardless of frontiers."

Article 19 of the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights, signed by both the United States and Britain, "protects the right to freedom of expression."

I suppose Britain has the right to ban whoever they please - but it doesnt sit well with Americans - and they probably just lost a few million dollars in tourist money and goods being sold in our country - because plenty of Americans are willing to boycott Brit products and cancel trips there as a protest to this stupid ban on Savage...

I haven't heard Michael Savage, but I decided to read a bit about him. To me he just sounds like a dick who doesn't belong on any self-respecting radio show. It also sounds like he doesn't explicitly advocate violence, but it certainly sounds like he comes very close to it. To me the disturbing thing is not that he exists but that his comments are legitimized by the many people who listen to him and those who broadcast him. I don't believe it's necessary for him to be banned from the UK, but, once again, I don't feel it's much of a loss.

These quotations, from the Wikipedia article on him stand out to me as examples of why he should generally be ignored, showing he is ignorant and extremely intolerant:

'On his September 21, 1999 broadcast, while voicing his contempt for San Francisco's homeless and the efforts to help them, Savage, a long time Bay Area radio personality, said that female students who come from a Marin County private school to feed and provide services to the homeless "can go in and get raped by them because they seem to like the excitement of it..."'

'On 17 April 2006, whilst speaking on his radio show about previous conversations Savage states he'd had, he said of Muslims "They say, "Oh, there's a billion of them." I said, "So, kill 100 million of them, then there'll be 900 million of them." I mean, would you rather die -- would you rather us die than them?"'

'On his July 5, 2007 radio broadcast, commenting on students who were fasting in protest of Congress' failure to pass immigration reform legislation, Savage declared, "I would say, let them fast until they starve to death; then that solves the problem."'

'Savage was quoted as saying Muslims "need deportation", and that adherents of Islam would do well to “take your religion and shove it up your behind” because "I’m sick of you."'

'In June 2008, Savage claimed that the increasing rate of autism diagnoses was the result of "a racket" designed to get disability payments for "poorer families who have found a new way to be parasites on the government." He returned to the subject on his July 16, 2008 show with the following remarks:
"Now, the illness du jour is autism. You know what autism is? I'll tell you what autism is. In 99 percent of the cases, it's a brat who hasn't been told to cut the act out. That's what autism is. What do you mean they scream and they're silent? They don't have a father around to tell them, "Don't act like a moron. You'll get nowhere in life. Stop acting like a putz. Straighten up. Act like a man. Don't sit there crying and screaming, idiot."'
You see, there's two kinds of people in this world, my friend. Those with loaded guns... and those who dig.

yep~ my point exactly the guy is outspoken but thats not worthy of banning him from entering the country - he is no threat to the uk - he isnt even broadcasted there -

its just politics as usual but in my opinion a stupid move on Smith's part - cuz like i said a lot of americans are outraged over this - and it just makes his show get more attention and in the end only hurts uk cuz he wasnt planning on going there anyway....

Well to be honest I don't think anyone cares if Americans are outraged.

Osiris, that's funny, if I recall that's what Hitler said before America entered the war.How about we put you on a hit list because you don't care what we think,How about we deem you as an extremist because your views are anti-American and we hunt you down and kill you and your family....

How far are you willing to let political incorrectness go?

You see that is the point, (the right to free speech) over 6 million people agree with him on some issues he takes a stance on, not all of them ,and some listeners disagree with him on many issues but it is his right to make those comments period.

If we start having politicians be the judge of what we can and can not say half of the free world will no longer be free and I for one will not give up my voice so easily.

Hate speech, incitement speech ...it's all a farce to give government control over our actions.

The people who back this action by Jacqui Smith will rue the day when the Inquisition comes knocking at their door for a comment they made at work standing around the water cooler thinking no one was listening.

Grab a weapon and stand opposed because I am not given up my right to tell you to **** off for anyone!
