I don't have an issue with adding avians, but I have these requests:
    1) Do more changes than that. We've played with age 42 rules before, it just isn't interesting to repeat a round. I'm confident you can do small number tweaks code-wise, and you can have a public feedback session about it beforehand. With the massive downtime we're about to face, you need popularity points and some minor number tweaks would be an easy/safe way to do so.
    2) Don't simply restore avian to how it was at some point, think outside the box.
    3) Don't duplicate bonuses, +1 def spec and 6/4 elites exist already.
    For Master of Magic fans:

Cat, how about be happy they did any changes period to a game that isnt even finished or working right.just chill and stop complaining .the less they change the faster it might get finished without even more problems they normally make doing any type of change.

Are you reading the same post as me? Because the post I read wasnt complaining.

Thanks for decreasing downtime for wol, Id rather have a slightly (hopefully not too) buggy game than none at all for 3-4 weeks.

We will continue fixing bugs while WoL is running, but we will be deploying those fixes less frequently and will give advanced notice of any significant scheduled downtime.
    Suggestion:
-Run WoL and Genesis at the same time (+-a day or 3 days or a week etc. if it will help with server loads)
-As bugs are found on both servers they can be updated more frequently to Genesis (to re-test and for regression testing)
-If the changes are working as expected after regression, they can be sent to WoL as one big package.

I'd rather the focus their efforts on one server.

Bugs found on one server would be very likely to be found on both servers, and would require the same fix

    Running two servers allows
    a) more players, since anyone running a WoL account can run a Gen account (w/out cheating)
    b) gives a buffer to make sure 'fixes' don't blow up something unintentionally on WoL

Once a compilation of fixes have been proven to be stable on Genesis, they can be put onto WoL, which (I guess I'm assuming) would be very minimalistic in terms of time. At the very least, it would take the same amount of time as their current plan (make fixes on their personal server then deploy them as a bunch are fixed), except there are more testers who can find regression bugs.

Ediit: I guess my worry is that they will fix something that will unintentionally break something else

Red face Why remove UNDEAD ?

    Why remove UNDEAD ?

Just increase the Elite creation to 10% & reduce Science penalty to -20%

    ... and learn to spell.

    UNDEAD

+ 10% offensive specialists are converted to Elites on successful Traditional Marches (not on intra hits, diminishing returns on oversending)
+ Offense Specs and Elites can not die on attacks you make (but can be killed on defense/ambush)
    + No food needed
+ Spreads & Immune to the Plague
    - Access only to basic thievery ops
    - Science Effectiveness : -20%
Specific Spellbook – War Spoils, Animate Dead, Reflect Magic

    Offensive Specialist – Skeleton
    Defensive Specialist – Zombie
Elite Unit – Ghoul (9/3, cannot be trained)

I woud really love to see confirmation that the 12 week freeze time was a typo.
I am assuming it will be 1 week freeze time and a 12 week age in "beta".

But that is not what it says.

Also as far as changes go...I am happy just to keep the game going at this point. But if the races are easy changes why not keep undeads and add avains or what ever. Change it up. Its not hard to please the majority of payers in utopia with a few tweeks.
As long as we feel your doing your best efforts to keep the game alive.

Instead of insinuating that we may encounter update and bug down time in the Beta/WOL ,why not just schedule a maintenance day of your choosing for every week to allow you unpressurized time for such needed activities to the Beta ie: Monday every week or what not!

As long as you can do this and the game can freeze for 24 hours and not effect the numbers or time lines of armies and will resume where it left off that previous day ,it would be better than announcing a shut down randomly for maintenance.

You can pull a 12 hour shift on these days do all possible in that time frame get the game back up and go back to work on the next maintnace period the following week.

Baring any major game interruption which takes the game or server down a scheduled down time in Beta would be better for all involved.

As the Beta progresses to where you and the community want it to be those maintenance periods should become shorter in duration and eventually become a 1 hour a week episode leading into age end/start changes.

    Good Luck!

Going back to age 42 setup is ok, imho. An other important rule that has changed recently is raze.
Age 43 changes: "Raze now destroys acres in war, too - razes after 200 acres do nothing in war"
So at age 42 raze killed just buildings in war. What raze rules will we have next age?

If memory serves then massacre was made weaker at some point. Who remembers when this happened? How strong massacre will we have next age?

How heavily will utopia be marketed and how well will it be backed by jolt? Will it be considered on of their flagship games or will there be some confusion with utopia kingdoms?

Kingdoms is pretty much dead, and it's a joke.
Catwalk's crusade for legalized cheating was a stunning success, with ghettos and low-tiered teams everywhere losing their wells of knowledge to better kingdoms in the process.

Step one: replace everything that works.
Step two: blame the predictable epic fail on outside forces.
Step three: keep the community informed that no progress has been made since the last update.
Step four: thank you for your patience.

Very glad to see the raze attack taken away again, it has made wars way too destructive and warstrats very similiar for every kd. Everything that removes diversity from game (ie dispromoting warring in general as well as making wars more similiar) is a bad thing.
