As you all have read the BS Updates. I'm just going to edit it in short.
So that you know what they a really saying....
Hi All,
.../sigh - We're embarrased
Last night we deployed new code with several performance improvements.
Last night we searched the internet far and wide, and we think we found and open source web code that might work.
Immediately after opening up the site it was hit with very heavy traffic.
We're lying, because this is our test server... and how would these hackers / scripts know how to get on here???
Soon after, the server came to a grinding halt.
We got hungry, from smoking the entire bowl. So we left to get our grub on!
From looking at the trends in the traffic it appears that much of these requests are coming from automated scripts.
Again, we're smoking!
Whether these scripts intend to distrupt the site, or belong to people trying to play the game is currently unclear.
We're nub's and we should have either went to school and learned how to do this, or hired a professional.
Even though the number of requests was very high the server should never come to a halt.
We bought our server off ebay
When this happens it means there is a problem with our code,
We're at a loss for words
a problem with our configuration,
This new code really sucks!
or a problem with another component we're using...
Maybe we should blow off the dust on our mouse ball.
Regardless, there is a problem which we must solve.
Gamestop told us that we're screwed and have no money to fund a professional. So keep waiting for us to find a working open-source code.
Today it's a case of starting investigating again.
We're at square one!
Eventually we will figure out where the problem is and it will be fixed.
Keep waiting. We'll update you with the same bonk and guff tomorrow.
We have a good lead at the moment,
We found a web forums where some guy posted a line segment that we used in our code.
but as with all things of this nature, it could come to nothing or it could be the breakthrough we're looking for.
We didn't notice any change, after putting that new line of code in... FUUUUUU!!!
This is the main reason that it's near impossible to give an accurate estimation of when the problem will be fixed.
We're going to get fired.
Once the problem is solved, scripters will continue to be a problem.
We do not know how to repress internet traffic.
Simply put, if there are 100 scripted requests for every one human request, the humans will suffer - this will be an ongoing problem.
We like to give excuses that are just bonk and guff.
To keep you somewhat informed, we will continue to update the notice at utopia-game.com.
Hang in there. We'll let you know when the new employees arrive to fill our shoes!
This at least tells you that the game will NOT be back for X hours, and you can get on with other things while checking back at utopia-game.com just once in a while.
We think we'll never get the game up and running. Just go on to another web game, where you can enjoy your time.
Thanks,
Brian & Sean
