The launch of the new code was rushed, citing problems with the old code. That has led to a number of problems with the new code. Should the last round have gone longer instead, in spite of the problems?

The smart thing to do would have been making what we already had work.
Catwalk's crusade for legalized cheating was a stunning success, with ghettos and low-tiered teams everywhere losing their wells of knowledge to better kingdoms in the process.
Step one: replace everything that works.
Step two: blame the predictable epic fail on outside forces.
Step three: keep the community informed that no progress has been made since the last update.
Step four: thank you for your patience.

>Yes, the problems with the old code could have been worked out
Personally I am fine either way, old code was working fine enough, and anything beats all the lame stuff we have been getting so far this age.

pretty pointless - since it will change nothing, but that is your choice i guess.
I'd say it can be very productive to scrutinize decisions and decision processes, in order to avoid repeating mistakes.

Well obviously utos management cant handle things that pretty well. Maybe the players of utopia can give valuable inputs to the matter.
both codes are ****
the choices are skewed. I would have to say "NO, Beta was working well."
Catwalk would you shut up already? This is pointless.

Everything in life is pointless, because we're all going to end up dead by the end, anyway.
Doesn't mean we can't have fun while things last.

I fully agree, this a a great point, one which uto management SHOULD follow.
games should be fun, and entertaining, if it is failing every other hour from whatever, then it isn't fun, period.
take games like Pool of radiance: Ruins of Myth drannor, or Ultima 9, both highly buggy games, see how well they did?
PoR was a rushed game to get out at the release of Dungeons and Dragons new 3.0 rule set. I bought the game, i couldn't play it, i got through like the first little bit then the whole game went corrupt, i clean installed it, and another problem happened, was just a nightmare after nightmare, lets just say i couldn't give it away.
Is that what uto management wants? a game they can't sell due to horrible reputation? cuz it seems that way.
This thread, as pointless as it may possibly be, has the best insight to help the hurting management. This is called constructive criticism, something NO ONE seems to do, and is much more helpful then flame wars (which should be shut down asap).
Thanks CW!!

We can use all the arguments, alibis, and defenses in the world; we can explain ourselves hoarse; but we cannot affect something so deeply imbedded in human consciousness.
