One wrong word makes it just sound silly

I thought this minor (and unnecessary) change was amusing...

"Our crystal ball shows that this province has been attacked extremely badly in the last month"

Didn't it used to say "extremely heavily"?

I thought we did a pretty good job attacking that province, IMO.

In fact, I'd go as far as saying...

"Our crystal ball shows that this province has been attacked extremely well in the last month. Good job! You're doing great! Neat-O!"

just kidding. maybe it should be reverted to the original text, eh?

Ehm - Isn't "extremely badly" grammatically incorrect? Hard or bad would be okay though.

If that was the case then they would have said:

Other way around. 'Badly' is an adverb, which is what's needed in that sentence (to qualify the verb 'hit'). 'Bad' and 'hard' are adjectives and so should only be used to qualify nouns, like 'magic castle' or 'Mehul'.

One of my pet peeves is people using adjectives when they should be using adverbs. Things like 'real good' (should be 'really good') drive me up the wall. I also can't stand 'do it fast' (should be 'do it quickly'), but there's at least some authority floating around that 'fast' may be an adverb (and not just through common misuse). Either way I think it sounds wrong.

That said, grammatically correct or not, 'hit extremely badly' doesn't make much sense. As the OP says, heavily is the word they're after.
