"Sir" has always been an honorific denoting knights. Historically, only males could be knights, hence the honorific, with their partners being labelled "Lady". You want true equality? Accept the one honorific for both genders!

oh just go away, first off, i was just trying to put a little bit of humor in it. but i'm sure if all the guys had to be called Lady something they wouldn't be real happy about it, so why should i be happy to be called Sir?
i don't like it. and i don't think any of the other titles are gender based, so why this one?
