Why are they hidden under protection? I kinda forgot the reason.

Because you haven't discovered the world yet...
That's a cop out...what's the real strat reason behind it? To hide ghettos?

So you don't have situations like:
"Who won last age? Fratzia? K, everyone find them and kill them while they're small"
No. You discover 2 new islands (1 in each direction?) per tick once we're OOP.
Yes, it should take 40ish hours for you to see all islands. I can't remember how many islands there were last age... *edit* there were do, so 39/2=19.5*3 = 59 hours

Retired at one time but no longer retired.
Man so id have to wait ten hrs to hit my friend? Wtf lol
Ignore Palem Hint hes wrong, its 2 every 3 hours.
Is it? I'm.....I'm wrong?
*goes and sobs in a corner*
Damn...I guess his sparky pixies pulled one over his eyes.
Actually, I'm pretty sure it was more along the lines of countering GBP bank feeding. This too:
+1. In order to illegally land farm now you'd have to create a farm on your island. A lot more difficult than before.
Palem, Your scenario just doesn't happen for three reasons:
1) Former #1 kingdoms can counter it by hiding their kingdom name until later. Only top (read: informed) kingdoms would have an idea of who they are, but can't be 100% sure without a kingdom leak. Personally, I can look at a kingdom's race setup / prov names and have a 9/10 shot of guessing correctly. But then again, I'm Godly.
2) A ghetto can/will only feed a kingdom like that right back to #1
3) The other top kingdoms generally don't want to get into a conflict early before draining their explore pool and developing their kingdom plan. They'd rather pick apart the easy 15 province kingdoms with 900 acre 40k nw provs.
Some of the drawbacks of this include:
1) Greater safety for banks to come OOP with limited defense. You usually have a decent 15 hours OOP before someone of worth can see you. In my Age 46 #1 round I came out with limited defense and didn't even train any additional defense OOP, and continued to explore trying to bait a GBP hit from the first killer that saw me. Due to NW size differences, I only lost ~150 acres but gained 2800 in a doubleup from GBP. Being 5600 acres 1 day OOP basically ends the round right there.
2) Harder to make a grab OOP (which helps server strain indirectly) when you only have 6 kingdoms to choose from.

"Godly, you do realized that you have just sealed your faith now, right?"
Godly, very interested in how you lost 150 acres and gained 2800. Did you explore most of that, dice it, or hit it, or what portion was each?
Great info though.
