...And, 45 minutes later, I still can't do anything. B&S, do y'all not know how to make time estimates? I'll educate you:Maintenance started at 18:58 GMT, and is expected to take 20 minutes.
1. Guess how long you think you'll actually take to get the job done. Say, 20 minutes.
2. Take that number, and multiply it by at least 2 (or 3+ based on past estimates and how they turned out) So, now we have maybe an hour.
3. Post/give your boss/disseminate to the other workers this number.
You now have a small buffer if it takes a bit longer than usual, so people don't get annoyed when you repeatedly miss deadlines. The worst deadlines to miss are the ones you give yourself, because they make you look incompetent. Usually, any job is going to take a bit longer than you think it will, especially if you're not 100% sure of the causing issue. And hey, say you tell us an hour, and its done in 30min: people are happy to be online faster, think you're awesome for getting it done sooner than expected, and don't ***** and whine about not having any communication from y'all when it goes past the time and no one knows whats going on.
I love how they are calling it scheduled maintance. Yea ok...
WTF!!!!!!!!!!! Do y'all just have this set to put up random times when the servers are down? Seriously?
