If fitted with the right build, would this be a serviceable attacker? FYI, our KD wars a lot.

Avian, Orc, human and UD make better attackers than Dwarves. If you pick Sage in a warring kingdom you will get most of your sci by doing learns because you won't have time for sci pumps.

Alright, well heres some of my thinking on why I think it would be ok. Fog: 3 hours added to enemy attacks. 7/4 is a solid elite. Free buildings frees up money for troops and science. +25% BE combined with the Sciences you would accumulate over the age would be sweet. The main problem I see is troop losses during war, which could be decently countered by a bunch of hospitals and a good economy due to good sciences and high BE. If I am way off someone tell me, going undead bores me and I cant log in often enough to be Avian.
Fog is a good spell. The problem is that Avians are immune and I expect Avian to be well represented among the provinces.
7/4 elite isn't bad but 4 races have stronger elites.
Free building is nice if you explore a lot or if you change you building strat a lot but if you're taking land by attacking you will also get free building credits which should cover about half the land you gained.
If you're concerned about troop loses then Cleric is an excellent personality for you.
You could pick Human for better income, better thievery and stronger elites. You'll also not have to worry about extra food consumption. The downside is that Human o-specs are weaker and they're quite bad at spell casting.

If you are set on playing as a Dwarf attacker though, I would pick Sage as a personality if I were you. I outlined a reasoning behind this in the Next Age Race/Personality thread in the Utopia Talk forum if you would be interested in why I would agree with you and go Sage as a Dwarf.
It wouldn't be bad for a hybrid a/m.. just throwing around fireballs and depending on fog and the base BE boost to keep your wizzies pumping through.
as a straight up attacker, it lags behind orc, avian, human, and elf a little bit... the first 3 b/c of their stronger base offensive number on elites, and elf because of the 6 point dspec freeing up more military for offensive troops.
either way, sage or shepherd would be the choice of personality.
I'm aspiring to conspire.

I agree Nobody with Orc, Avian, or Human being a bit better for straight up Heavy Attackers but it should be better than Elf. I think your underestimating the strength of the BE boost as it would apply to OME and/or DME combined with the core strength of a Dwarf econ over the rather sucky Elf econ and for straight up Heavy attacker Dwarf should win out both in surviability and the ability of Dwarf to produce a better combined Offense/Defense ratio.
Dwarf Sage is a good choice imo, given that you run decent wpa. We'll probably see quite some Elf a/m's and Orc/Clerics out there next age, and Dorf are pretty good at defending themselves against both of those combos. Get good wpa and mage sci and you should be fine with dorf. Practically they reach about the same army strength as for example Avians when you factor in the BE bonus. Even without the low losses of a cleric, dorf is a pain to chain and keep down (decent def on elites, fog & free buildings).
Imo you need to be more worried about orcs than avians next age, so fog is gonna be worth a lot, as long as you're not too easy to mv.
If you don't like being hybrid'ish, look at Orc/Cleric which is gonna be awesome next age. That's only for people who can take getting op'ed a lot tho ;)

You know that kingdom that's got about 20 dwarfs in it... All around or over 10k acres? What personality do you think they are? The same or different combos?
Thenthere is that pro dwarf with 50k acres.... I wonder what personality they are and how they are so huge! Are they attacker dwarfs or mostly exploring and max-dicing????

the big guys start off with attacking and then switch to dicing

Dwarf is a perfectly viable option for a strong attacker. They have the most effective GS possible, free building is a huge eco bonus, and a BE boost on every eco/attacking building. Stack sage sci bonuses on top of that (especially gains) and you'd have to be mad to think Dwarf can't own ppl if played correctly.

dwarves are solid, alltho I'd prolly pick another personality if your goin for pure attacker in warring kd. Sage is more of a hybrids choice and cleric would prolly serve you better unles you plan to invest in raw tpa/wpa to boot.
