I am new to elves aka new to fountain of knowledge, i have no idea what this actually means. It doesn't generate actual books 5% extra but what does it do?

When you research x amount of books, each hour you'll get an extra 5%. So if you had something like ..500 500 500 500 500 500.. for next 6 hours you'll actually gain 525 books after tick with FoK on, which you'll have to manually check tho.

Right, it doesn't display on your adviser page, but once the books come in, there should be 5% more/hour than the adviser page displays.

Hmm, i still don't see any difference what so ever.. have fountain of knowledge on and monitored it everytime, perhaps i just don't see it...

It increases the amount of books you have in learning as they come in.

Say you learned 24000 books into pop. Your advisor will show you 1000 coming in every tick. With Fok on you will still see 1000 coming in, but you will actually receive 1100.

Does that apply to book already in progress?

By that I mean, if I have 100 books coming in next tick, and then I cast FoK, next tick will I get 110 books? Or is only for books ordered while FoK is running?

It is the first. FoK affects any science that comes out of your in progress queue on a tick when it is active.
