    clarify Propaganda

How does this work? Sometimes I steal: soldiers, specialists, elites, or and, wizard; but, I can never seem to predict what or how?

    Yes.

It's random which one you'll target.

afaik, the amount of theives sent determines some type of mean for damage, from which there is a fairly wide standard deviation, making it at times seem like gains are in fact random. However, its unclear to me what the diminishing returns are from increasing the amount of raw tpa.

I haven't been playing a thief long enough to really determine much about it. However, at 15 mod tpa (yeah, shut up, I rerolled two weeks ago) I still get only failures if I send in thieves more than 1.5x the number of acres my target has. For example, if I send more than 1500 thieves at a 1000 acre target, even if he has extremely low tpa (0.75 mod), I seem to get nothing but failures. However, as soon as I backed it down to 1500, I was getting decent returns for what he actually had available, like 350 soldiers, 25 thieves, 20 wizzies, 10 elites, etc. That particular definitely appeared to be a bank...albeit a VERY poorly built one. He was on twice per day, so inactive can be ruled out there. xD

Not sure if that actually has anything to do with it at all, but in my limited experience, it appears to.

There was a brief conversation on this in another thread http://forums.utopia-game.com/showth...9#post15110829 but no one ever responded that had done research. Anecdotally, I remember also feeling that when I sent lower amounts of thieves it affected my success rate, but have never actually heard of anything affecting success rate but the ratio between your own modtpa, and the targets modtpa. I just figured it was that when I lost thieves from failures after sending more thieves I realized it more because the numbers lost were higher...

Perhaps you misunderstood. He was a fail bank...he was in my nw range. Only reason I assumed he was a bank was because he was active and had a LOT of untrained soldiers, gold, and no real offense.

Patriotism wouldn't explain the 2000 soldiers AND 2m gc he had laying around before we got done with him...while he was online. If he had any intention of training them, he very easily could have. He was holding that for a reason. Hence, my assumption. ;)
