Outlaw Tobacco and Cigarettes?

Should tobacco and cigarettes be made illegal? since they can be very harmful to people, both physically and financially?

If people have the right to smoke cigarettes, why not joints?

For people that smoke them they are very bad financially they spend a decent portion of their income on highly addictive and harmful 'smokes' that are thought legally 'okay' by governments.

The financial issues are directly related to your governments. On health grounds though, yes - I'd ban them in a heartbeat.

You could, but anyone who would try do it would commit a major social suicide, it would be a public outrage and then the criminals would benefit from it instead. Just look at US during the probation!

I think it is as foolish to outlaw tobacco as it is to outlaw marijuana, both are personal choices. If any government did actually try to outlaw it there would riots of angry smokers overturning cars in the streets. I think it is always up to the people regarding smoking, but i can understand Bishop's comment about healthcare.

Still, i don't see how tobacco can be legal when marijuana is not.

so if people spend a "decent" (although even if you would chainsmoke a pack a day away it's still only 150 euro's a month) amount of money on a form of consumption it's financially harmfull?
