    Now doing the NW part again:

    7.47 peasants per acre
    Raw WPA = 1.70
    5 raw TPA
    5 Offensive specialist per acre (dragon fodder)
    EPA = 13.76
    750 BPA
    55 NW/A from 100% built land

    750/92 + 55 + 7.47 + 1.7*4 + 5*4 + 5*4 + 13.76*5
    =
    186.22

    That's a pretty big drop!

    OPNW = .438
    DPNW = .236

    Total MPNW = .674

    So that small drop in mTPA and the switch to TGs and a few o-specs overwhelmed the slight easing back of the DR, and got us .674/.646 = about 4% more military as measured by NW. That .674 is much nicer looking to my eye - I'm a lot more confidant calling that an A/T - the old value was a little on the line. This should, just barely, break the 80% of straight attacker mark, which is a major threshold imo.
    it's vs. its is ambiguous - from now on I'm attempting to use the proper possessive it's, and the contraction 'tis. (Its will just be the plural.)

    counting ur elites as both offense and defense will get u in trouble as a halfling. yes they CAN double as both, but the game aint static. that will drop ur numbers quite a bit if u assume they can only be EITHER offense or defensive elites. unless ur turtling.

    the numbers dont stack up to other races for A/T.

    they make damn good turtle thieves though.

    He lists OPA, DPA with army out, DPA with army home. I used OPA and DPA with army out, since turtling is secondary. So ya... that 80/40+ you are seeing *doesn't* double count.

    Not to forget the versatility of the leets make them attractive, cheep 500gc troops and it gives you the oppertunity to save credits pre-war as you can run majority leet military. This futher helping halfers econ early on in wars, if you get growth early on (and how many kds chain now?) then the leet army can be suplimented quickly with 'free off specs' allowing you to leave more leets at home while still having the same off (or higher). Growing into your acres imo is just as (if not more) important than grabbing them and losing them too easily.

    I've got to disagree with halfers not standing up to other A/T, early age they have the benefit of being able to get a kicka*s raw TPA quickly (when sci doesn't take so much effect) and later age when sci does take effect the /sage pers can keep them ontop.

    Also the accurate intel allows for just a SoM to get total def at home rather than SoT then SoM, other races can end up wasting stealth which would directly effect there thievery output, admittingly co-operation can remove that. Afterall it isn't just about the perfect numbers but also in obtaining them. If you play them right then they can be superb A/T imo, no worse than humans. When compared to heavy attackers then obviously they wont be able to hit as hard but they'll have there own advantages to work the heavy attackers over.
