The natural argument is nonsense, but not because faeces are natural, more because the 'natural' construct is completely arbitrary. Most likely, everything you will ever come across is natural, there is no reason to create this weird idea that humanity is outside of nature, and I'm reasonably certain that the genesis of that idea resides in religion and man being part divine or in gods image and separate from the other beasts. People use this same nonsense reasoning when arguing against homosexuality.

Humans are a part of nature, everything we do is a part of nature.

For me it's not a matter whether to legalize or not. It's how the product will be used, you will need to educate people first that this is not some toy to play around with.

legalize it. its everyones own responsibility to use/not use it. it also d drop crime and the % of users. if something is legal its much less exciting :)

    You're from the States, right?
Your constitution is written on hemp. (That's fibre from marijuana for those who don't yet know)
The variant used to grow hemp for industrial use in oil, fibre and seeds is probably 10-20% of the potency of the kinds you buy for personal consumption.

Some of my friends vouch that the wild ones you find are so mild that even cigs are more addictive than wild hemp
It's a beautiful glass, nevermind half full or empty

I don't smoke pot, but I'm looking at it from the perspective of someone who pay taxes and want to see that tax money used as efficiently as possible in a society where state debt, organized crime and crumbling public infrastructure is an issue.

Our police resources are at least partially mobilized cracking down on pot and other drugs. I'd like those resources freed up as much as possible to actually make society safer. I don't care if the guy down the street is smoking pot. That's his prerogative. I care that instead of hunting down other more serious crimes, our police force are busy busting pot distribution networks.

Various individuals implicated in the pot trade get jailed. While in jail, they are not busy leading productive lives and paying taxes. Rather, our taxes pay for them. They are just dealing pot. Get them out of jail ASAP and stop wasting my tax dollars on this ****.

The profits from the pot trade atm are 100% tax free, because it's illegal. I pay taxes and so should they. Legalize it and tax it.

Profits from the pot trade are illegal and prime real estate for organized crime to move in. Then, they use those profit to branch out in nefarious areas, like hijacking the construction industry and bribing public officials to look the other way. Legalizing pot would create one less revenue stream that helps organized crime grow and hijack society.

I don't give a **** if you are a social conservative and feel some sort of moral obligation to crack down on pot. You guys have been screwing us over with your nonsense for decades now. Empirically, criminalizing pot creates way more harm than good and brings us one step closer to the break down of society.

So if the guy down the street starts selling it to say your 10 year old daughter or your neighbors kids you have no problem ?

Most people dont have issues with things that havent effected them yet. If someone high on weed runs head on into their wife or family they normally will be the first ones screaming why didnt someone do something to keep it from happening.

    It's called common sense.

Alcohol, cigarets, lotery, porn magasines and firearms are legal, yet it's not legal to sell it to a 10 years old.

Technically, a lot of that **** is more likely to make it into the hands of a minor when it's illegal, because the entire distribution network is illegal and therefore unregulated.

Replace 'high on weed' by drunk or tired or using a cell or on meds or just impatient. We have a code of conduct on the road, but I agree that people are fallible and tend to do whatever the hell they want, weed or not.

Rather than ban everything that could possibly cause a car accident (including working overtime, not sleeping properly, cell phones and countless medically relevant pharmaceuticals that are saving lives), perhaps it would be better to focus on slowly taking the human element out of our road system.

Fewer cars and more public transit, cars that progressively drive themselves more and more as technological improvements makes it possible, more prohibitive restrictions for obtaining a driver's license, etc. That's the stuff I'm talking about.

Thats just so retarded, are you really a police officer? Do you see stores selling alcohol to kids? Do they sell cigarettes? Do you see kids running around with guns? (well all of these is possibly in extreme cases) in general these things dont happend cause its regulated by law. Same thing would apply if you legalize pot as well, restrictions. Its higher chance that the guy down the streets sells to your 10 year old child when its illegal rather when its legalized.

Smoking weed doesnt impair your ability to drive, or if does it is very minor. Alcohol / cell phones are far more dangerous. And um.. if you have a 10 yo daughter unsupervised buying drugs down the street what kind of parent are you? If you are letting your 10 year old daughter see 'some guy down the street' i dont think weed is your biggest issue.

Magn: i agree with almost all your post.Humans cant drive worth a crap. Adding something else to the problem wont make it better..

Korp : you say extreme,i say daily .Believe it or not every thing you say they get ,they do get daily from stores that we have to call TABC in to shut down. Its all about the almighty dollar.

tr3ndy: you really must be on it because not only does it impair your reflexes ,in most cases it effects vision as well.

Medical use is one thing, Beevus and Butthead dont need to be driving
