    Avian help

I chose avian this age and I know it's not the best race this time around but i wanted to try something different. Anyways, anyone have a good strategy and/or build for Avian Cleric?

    Pure attacker:
    8% Farms
    13% Banks
    15% TGs
    15% Rax
    15% GS
    15% WTs
    15% Guilds
    4% Towers

Later in the age when you've had some science, convert to A/t
    8% Farms
    15% Banks
    15% TGs
    10% Rax
    15% GS
    20% TDs
    13% Guilds
    4% Towers

GS couples with cleric really well in the event you become a chain target. The rest of the strat is nothing special. Barracks are optional of course - depending on how fast you want your avian to be.

    Yeah... Roll something else.

And coming from a die-hard Avian enthusiast, you know how much it hurts to say that.

Avian is good if you can use the attack speed fully to hit x3 a day. You need to boost the weak elite as much as possible though you only have TGs and dungeons to do that directly. IMO you need to overbuild TGs because you should be taking land in 3 times a day, rather than the standard 2 times.

Avian is not as bad as it's made out to be, but it's still pretty crap... attack time bonuses are best if your whole kingdom has about the same attack times, even if playing in all but the most ghetto of ghettoes. Unfortunately Avian is far too weak to have most of the kingdom using it.

The good news is that Avian elites are cheap to replace... indeed, your avians should keep training elites while in war, as the price difference is not that great between elites and specialists when considering their relative offensive values. Additionally they have town watch, a useful spell for an Avian that gets landfat in war.

The bad news is... pretty much everything else. Avians will get torn up by thieves and mages both, and their armies aren't durable like undeads.

Forget about a/t with Avian. The sabotage bonus amounts to urine and feces, and a/t is a strategy that most of the players in this game have long since adapted to defend against. It is rare for me to see people with anything less than 1.5 tpa pre-war, and usually they build watchtowers on top of that.

The key bonuses are attack time, which can be utilized in a few ways; one is to maximize attack time and go nuts with hitting, armies in armies out, and hope you come out ahead; another is to build enough barracks to get around 8 hour attack times, which makes hitting 3x per day much easier; a third is to forgo barracks entirely, and match the rest of your kingdom's attack times while utilizing other buildings, most likely buildings of a defensive nature like guardstations and watchtowers.

-25% attack times is roughly equivalent to 25% barracks when accounting for BE, so you can do a lot with that extra land combined with your cleric bonus negating the need for hospitals.

Sabatoge bonus lets you ns situationally against core attackers without losing too many thieves.

edit: although its still a decent amount if you have no td at all.

I appreciate the replies, thank you everyone. I see that I might have a rough time this age but ill try taking Bishop's advice and over build TGs then try to makes hits 3 times a day when I need to. I'll probably convert to A/T later in the age and see how effective I can actually be with that.

The + sabotage damage is a trick to fool nubs into playing avian a/t :) Don't use it; what you wanna do is indeed to take in land 3 times a day in which case you cannot maintain tpa or td's and putting effort into thievery will be wasted. Run prov as pure attacker.

Could be useful for kidnaping and try to stay hight in populating ur lands with the +dmg. Other then that, avian is pretty much fail.

Run either dwarf with QF or orc/tact with high tax if u want to 3x a day imo. Going avian for that benefit is meh, but cleric is a great choice, probably the only viable one. cause u don't want to anon, and the cleric is just about mandatory for all the attacking ur doing and ambushing you'll be recieving.

Not exactly advice, but just some thoughts :)
Bishop is right use high tgs and maybe 2.5% dungeons to boost ur offense, as they are ur only modifiers. Cleric is overpowered this age, so if ur in a warring ghetto, which is my guess, u are in pretty good shape.
