    Settle a debate about Homes

    Elf Mystic a/M province:

    50% Homes
    15% Guilds
    15% Towers
    15% Watchtowers
    5% Farms

    Viable or laughable?

Add in 13% rax, so you can make 2 uniques a day and actually be considered an "attacker" in any realm, and 25% TGs+Stables, and 12% GS. And then sure, homes are viable.

    Debate on Homes:

1: Besides Guard Stations, the second best building to avoid being chained to death (aka. PKed)
2: Yeah, that's pretty much it.

So that being said, If you want to be able to be an attacker, you need to have some sort of attacking build. Unless you just plan on feeding on defenseless provinces, which likely won't grant you any honor.

    Elf Mystic a/M

    10% Homes
    10% Banks
    10% Guilds
    15-20% Guard Stations
    4% Stables
    10% TGs
    10% Raxes
    15% Watchtowers
    5% Farms
    6% ?

Then when you start getting deep chained, THEN you raise your homes to 20-50% (depending on how deep the chain is)

Forget about "a/M" or "a/T" early age - go for offensive power and economy primarily, and aim for better-than-average wpa. Mystic and Elf together are netting 3x the mod wpa of your early-game targets, if you wind up in war.

As far as homes, people are so thickheaded about them that it's hard to talk sense. They're a building primarily for defense, economy, and thievery, and not a particularly good one at that.

The likely best thing to do with build strats is to forget about precise ones - instead, assess what you want your provinces to be capable of doing, and let them build what they need to in order to accomplish that. During war it's especially important to have a sense of where your kingdom is at, and deal with setbacks accordingly. If your players need a precise build strat then you can think of one that suits your kingdom's needs.

If provinces think about what they should actively be doing instead of thinking "oooh my province looks shiny", things can operate much more smoothly... at least in ghetto land.

Any strat with more than 10% homes is a joke

You have too few farms and no hosps or GS

The enemy kingdoms will kill your pop with kidnap or massacres and you will have wasted 50% of your land
This is my province. There are many like it, but this one is mine.
My province is my best friend. It is my life. I must master it as I must master my life.
My province, without me, is useless. Without my province, I am useless.
I must attack hard with my province. I must attack harder than my enemy who is trying to pk me. I must pk him before he pk's me. I will...

I'm considering 10% homes as a Faery Mage, and ran 15% as an Undead last round, anymore is a waste of space imo.

You avoid pk with homes? Why not just use GS, Rax, and TG to avoid pk?

What he took from this thread...

"So 50% GS instead of 50% Homes"

    sigh.

btw, why so many Barracks? My own attack time without them is 12.80, so his is the same, shouldn't take that much to get it down to 12 for two per day no?

Sorry, let me clarify then. My post was in reference to a target who has already been chained down that is continually getting quad tapped by other chained provinces. Starting a war you shouldn't have more than 20% GS max, but that might be too high for most provinces. The problem with a high % of any building is DBE
Diminishing Building Efficiency - the more of a building you build, the less the effects you gain.
99% of the time, you should never have any more than 20% of a single building type.

Homes are only worth it when you do need the birth rate bonus.

It is viable and recommended for almost any attacker to run 0 homes.
