    plague when getting ambushed

how come does one contract plague when one gets ambushed? is the plagued emailed home and thus effects the land?

I really don't see why your entire province should be effected with plague when your army is still say 5hrs from returning home. Sure when they get back then your whole province contracts it but surely not while they are out - there's no physical way for the plague to effect everything lol

You question the plague affecting your province when you get ambushed, but accept your army taking no time to reach the enemy, but 12 days to get home, carrying acres of land on their backs?

ah I see what you did there - answering my question with your own. very sneaky indeed. If you don't have a proper answer could you not just pretend and make 1 up instead of posting just for the hell of it?

me thinks that thieves should be able to pick up the plague. how the heck do they spend so much time slinking and skulking around grabbing things from undead provs and bringing them home to the wife n kids and have 0% chance of getting infected? maybe a smaller chance then actually doing battle but it should be possible...

Sure, I'll make an answer up: the plague is brought home by the messenger that is somehow able to tell you the result of any battle instantaneously.

The messenger is the one that teleports the army to the battlefield. The army must stay behind and tend to the new acres and the messenger teleports backs, with the plague.

Everyone is making a key mistake in this question that I think you may want to correct before you continue.

Read the text a little closer next time you attack.

Your forces arrive at a province. A tough battle took place, but we have managed a victory! Your army has taken some acres! Some acres of buildings survived and can be refitted to fit our needs. We also gained some specialist training credits. Taking full control of your new land will take some days, and will be available on some date of YRsomething. Some peasants settled on your new lands.

Please notice that nowhere in the text does it actually say that your army is away from your province or that the acres are moving. It doesn't say that your acres will return, your acres will come back, your acres will arrive or anything to suggest that acres actually move. What it says is that you have taken some acres, it will take time to take full control and that you army will be available later.

As Utopia is a magical place (to wit: you can do magic!), the logical explanation is that through some mechanic, every province in Utopia is able to, at any point, be adjacent to any other province. When you attack another province, your army isn't carrying acres around, they're preparing your acres by taking full control - replacing all the old flags with new ones, teaching everyone the new national anthem, doing whatever they do to convert people between races and all of the other important things needed to be done to take control of the acres. That's why it takes so long for your army to be available - they have to spend their time making the acres ready for you. The acres are already part of your kingdom, since your province was adjacent to theirs when you attacked, and now it's in your borders. This explains how you get the Plague immediately - it's a by-product of taking over acres from Undeads.

An Ambush can then be viewed not as your army attacking an enemy army that's carrying acres around, but as your army invading the acres your enemy just took and re-capturing them. You're redrawing the borders again and taking back half of the acres that were just re-districted away from you. In this context, it's clear how you catch the Plague instantly on an ambush, since you're invading Undead territory with Undead armies there and immediately redistricting the acres. Since the conversion process was not complete, your army will take less time to convert everything back to the way it was, which is why Ambush has a quicker attack time.

For reference, War Spoils can then be viewed not as a spell that brings acres home while your army is traveling, but as a spell that allows your peasants to build the land you've captured instantly instead of waiting for the conversion process to complete.

    I hope this helps.

Nice, it clears up a lot. I have one question though. When you WS, what is your army doing?

it is still changing the flags and teaching the national anthem, that and taking a fag break before they need to be sent out again. the peasants are just hasty to repopulate the newly gained lands and so build on them as soon as they are captured but before they are completely controlled
