honor question.

so we have been in war for a few days and ive lost roughly 600 honor points. i have been attacked a tiny bit but prob have had four or five outgoing attacks for each incoming. i am larger than the provs i am attacking but a prov in my kd bigger than me is gaining honor from his hits. how does that work exactly. i dont really care about my honor just more curious to know how it works.

Hit in your honor range and networth range. Also, in war hitting up will always give honor, but hitting down by 50% networth gives no honor.

Hitting down by 90% gives near 0 honor (gains are awful). Hitting up to like 130% gives good honor (part of the reason the system is so silly).

Plus your relative honor to someone else's honor affects gains.

Example with random numbers:

You're a baron hit up 120% on another baron; you get 300 honor.

You're a baron hitting down 90% on a count; you get 300 honor.

You're a baron hitting down 90% on a baron; you get 50 honor.

You're a peasant hitting up 120% on a count; you get 700 honor.

You're a count hitting down 90% on a peasant; you get 10 honor.

GBP seems to not affect honor, or at least very little.


I was rather big my last war, started as a Viscount. Getting piddly honor gains hitting their largest provinces. All of their orcs Anon hit me (semi OOR hits), pull me into their elves, then I get hit 4 times and lose ~2800 honor.

Getting honor as an attacker is like playing the lottery; even if you end up high on acres from a war, you might have no honor (in fact our last war, the guy with 0 defense taking everyone's bucket hits ended the war as a Count, because he was at the bottom of the ladder for the entire war). There's nothing you can do short of land dropping (which isn't really possible anymore), staying small and top feeding during a war (since bottom feed honor gains are piddly, as mentioned before).

Honor is gained from ops, magic ops especially.

Per hit optimum gains are on targets 90% your nw, and hitting above your nw doesn't incur as much penalty as hitting down.

In a long war it relies more on which kingdom can throw more ops and spells, and which tactics limit the amount of offensive output a kingdom can use in a long war. Usually there is one or two provinces that wind up losing all of their honor, and attackers which luck out and get lots of honor... new war win rules are favoring a more equal distribution of honor, and province honor is less of a joke for attackers in that a winning kingdom is guaranteed to have barons and viscounts in their core.

I was just in a war me being Marquis @ 150k nw being opped by a 320k prov. I was losing 25 honor to a single MS and 5-10 honor points per fireball/ET. I think this is broken as its dbl + my nw.

That being said i was gaining 2 honor per propaganda on 110% my size?

Just because you don't understand the reason it works like this doesn't mean its broken. WPA is a longer and more difficult investment, so it pays off a lot more.
